Stuffed Cabbage?
« on: April 04, 2006, 08:38:01 PM »

DH says he once had a cabbage stuffed with ham, cheese, and other veggies.  He thought the recipe was from the cookbook that came with his parent's first microwave.

Anyone have such a recipe like this?

Reminds me very vaguely of stuffed saurkreut I like a lot, as for recipe I really have no clue, I usually don't make it and when I do I sorta add things randomly until I get the right smell and taste (I really should try to figure a recipe out sometime) Smiley

I have 32 stuffed cabbage recipes in my collection.  Including Irish recipes, French recipies, Jewish recipes, Korean, Ukranian, and Polish recipes, cabbage stuffed with lamb, rice, "meat," octopus, turkey, apples, pork, wild boar, beef, chicken, and crab, cooked with mint, tomatoes, wine, sugar, pepper, cloves, cumin, eggs, nutmeg, cinnamon, thyme, milk, potatoes, ginger, Worcestershire sauce, yogurt, tobasco, bread, salsa, cheese, sauerkraut  and gingersnap cookies.

But nothing close to what your husband remembers.

Goog drief!  Are you serious?  Do you really have that many recipes?

Yikes!  I thought I was bad.  At last count, I own 32 cookbooks.  Roll Eyes

Oh!  I should invite him over here!  He left Reality Cafe because of a dispute with darkblack over New Orleans.  Sad

He might enjoy this place.  He'd certainly have a lot to contribute.

Your description rings a faint bell of memory.  I think at some time in my childhood I had cabbage stuffed with ham.  Unfortunately, I don't know where or when.  I did an internet search after looking in my two favorite cookbooks.  I found several recipes for stuffed cabbage (One you stuff the head instead of individual leaves - sounds interesting.)  There was also a recipe for cabbage and ham soup.  You might find it interesting to look at.  I think ham could be substituted for the beef in at least one of the recipes.  Here's the site: http://recipes.lovetoknow.com
