Sri Lankan Gova Mallung (Cabbage with Coconut)
« on: April 03, 2006, 07:25:22 PM »

1/2 lb cabbage, washed & shredded
1 small onion, chopped
1 green chile, minced (we use Thai chillies, you could use a jalapeno)
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoon water
1/4 cup coconut, grated (fresh is best, but can use dessicated)
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 lime, juiced

Place cabbage, onion, chile, salt, and water in a pan and cook for 5 minutes.

Stir, then add the coconut, pepper and turmeric and cook for a further 2-3 minutes.

Sprinkle with lime juice prior to serving.

*We hate cabbage, generally speaking, but love it this way.

I LOVE cabbage.  This looks great.  I'll try it this week.  Thanks!
