1 pkg yeast 1 1/2c warm water 1tbsp sugar and salt 4c flour (I use unbleached all purpose) 1 egg Combine yeast, water, sugar and salt in lg bowl. Stir in flour. Knead on table until the dough is smooth.
Shape dough in the classic pretzel shape of arms folded in prayer. Use water to "glue" the 2 "hands to the "arms".
Place on greased cookie sheet and brush tops with beaten egg. Sprinkle with salt -any kind will do.
Bake in preheated oven at 425*F for 10-15min.
After 10 minutes, take them out and brush with garlic butter.
Garlic butter: melt 1/2 stick butter. Stir in 2T dried oregano, 2T garlic powder. Stir well. Add Onion powder if desired, do not use onion or garlic salt.
Cool and freeze in ziploc bags. Take out as many as needed to thaw for about 30 minutes before baking. Or just leave in oven a bit longer. Reheating thawed ones in for 5min on 400...if frozen they'll take a bit longer.
