Russian Pickled Mushrooms (Marinovannye Griby)

1      cup    red wine vinegar
2               whole cloves
1/2   cup    cold water
5               black peppercorns
1    small     bay leaf
2    tsp.      salt
2               cloves garlic,peeled and crushed

1   pound   small fresh white mushrooms,cleaned
1   Tbsp.    vegetable oil
1   quart    sterilized glass jar with lid

In 2-quart stainless-steel saucepan combine fist 7 ingredients
and bring to boil over high heat.
Drop in the mushrooms,bring back to boil.
Simmer for about 8-10 minutes,stirring occasionally.
Let cool to room temperature.

Remove the garlic from the marinade,pour the intire
contents of the saucepan into the 1 quart jar.
Slowly pour the oil on top.
Secure top with plastic wrap and cover tightly.
Marinade the mushrooms for at least one week.
