Title: My forthcoming non-garment project...
Post by: quidscribis on April 01, 2006, 06:15:08 AM
Since we have a topic for most recently finished, I thought I'd start one for in the thinking, planning stages...

I'm thinking I'm going to give a try to making handbags, wallets, and the like pretty soon.  I've got leftover scraps of fabric that are calling to be made into something, and since I'll never have need of a quilt here, that might be a good idea.  :D  I'm also thinking about a small sewing/other emergency kit and a jewellery roll.  You know, just little projects that won't take long but will, I think, be a lot of fun.  :D  Plus, a month or so ago, I taught my neice (15) how to sew capri pants, and she left behind her leftover material, so I'm thinking of making that into handbags/wallets for her.  Co-ordinating and all.  I think she'll get a kick out of it.  ;D

But, after the next kameez is done...  And I need to get zippers and stuff...  And create my patterns...

What are you thinking of doing next?

None of my forthcoming projects are sewing-related; but I've got a list, anyway!  ;D

I have to: find a classifieds program for this site.  Find a "Plan B" webhost in case this doesn't work.  Finish the poor, neglected front page and the cooking forum (although Zazzy has that pretty much in hand). Install the sewing wiki and get it configured.  Paint another bird for my bird challenge -I picked an "egret" and am not sure how I'm gonna do it. :)

And then there's all the real life stuff.

I'm getting exhausted just thinking about it.  ;D

Older DS just got engaged, His fiancee loves frogs, he loves all superheroes. He found, in a quilt shop we dragged him kicking and screaming into, spiderman frogs fabric. Spiderman suit but frog face. He asked me to make him a pillow out of it. I agreed. So I have a 22" pillow to sew up before Easter. I add fusible fleece to the thin cotton fabric to beef it up a little for pillows. Then I stuff it with a purchased 24" pillow form. Makes a pretty substantial pillow. He'll use it in front of the tv for floor lounging.

Spiderman and a frog face.  What a combo.  Who would have thought of putting them together.  Someone did!  Glad your DS is getting such a great Easter gift!

LindaL, I just started a new topic called "My Upcoming  Garment Project" and moved your post there.  I hope you don't mind.  I think it will be a good new topic.  :)  I love seeing what you have planned.  I'm hopping over to that topic to add more commentary.
