Actually, could you post me a screenshot?  I think we must be seeing the page very, very differently as the links are a darker blue for me than the backgrounds, which alternate between white and a very pale blue.

It's under Look and Layout, which can be found in a dropdown menu that shows up when you click on your name at the top left of screen (I did this on my computer, not sure about phone/other).

I like this upgrade so far, DL! :) But I do agree with Kathryn about link color.

Edited to add screenshot but not sure I did it right lol.

Quote from: DragonLady on February 16, 2019, 08:50:44 amWhen you click the "alerts" link at the top of your screen, you'll see "settings" in the upper right corner of the popup.  That link will take you to a page of different options so you can choose what you want to be alerted about, and how -forum alert, or email.

Thanks - I thought I had done that but it had no effect - am now trying different settings.  I knew I didn't want e-mails, but thought the 'alert immediately' might pop up on my desk top all the time, which I loathe.  Let's see if this version of my settings gets me back to the set-up I like

P.S. What do the coloured/not coloured icons at left mean ?

P.P.S.  Ah, I've now found the 'unread posts' button has moved to top right, which is what I was looking for !

P.P.S.  My IP address is showing on the left of each of my messages.  How do I make sure that doesn't show to everyone ?

Thank You

There are no desktop notifications.  Only little numbers by the "alerts" link to let you know something changed.

They change when there are new topics.

Yeah...it will just take time to get used to everything.

It doesn't.  It's only visible to you and to the moderators and admins.

I'm talking about the difference between the color of the normal text and the color of the linked text, not the colors against the background color, DL. Also, @alerts color should be more distinctive as well, like, maybe, red? So when you read a topic your name will pop right out if it's been alerted, just in case one doesn't check the Alerts list all the time.

Here is a screen grab of this post of yours. Look at the links in your signature section. Hard to distinguish the blue grey of the link from the charcoal grey of the text

Wow this Attached file from the computer went right into the body of the post in addition to under the Attachments line. Wonder how that happened. Have to check that out a little closer.

Why is it that clicking on "new" does not always take us to the newest unread post but rather to the top of the page where maybe that post is located? It happens more often than not.

Yeah; just one of many little bugs.  It's not perfect, but is working much better than the old version in almost every way.

I thought it was kind of an improvement.  When the update was first loaded. Clicking on New took me all the way to the Reply.  First couple of threads I clicked on, I didnt even realize there were anything to read!

In general, I'm liking this update quite a lot. I'd never used the "unread posts" option which opens up a bunch more topic areas than I usually follow. That's a good thing, so far.

What I miss, though, is the "next" button. In the Old Version, when I came to the end of posts for Topic A of Chatter (for example), I would find a "next" option to take me directly to Topic B of Chatter. I liked that. I guess I can change, but am I missing it somewhere or is it discontinued?

I don't know.  I hadn't noticed it was missing, but I'll add that to the list of things to work on.

It takes you to which ever end of the page is nearest to the last post made, then you can use the "go down" or "go up" buttons that appear on right hand side to take yourself closer to where you want to be.  I think I preferred it the other way, but I don't know if there are any plans to change it.

Previous and Next are now links on the upper right side of each topic, just under the title.  When you finish reading a topic, you can use the "go up" button to take you back to the top, then use the "next" link to take you to the next topic.

Good to know, DL. Thanks. I was just pointing out to Bev that it doesn't take us to the full Reply page, which would be unwieldy, but just down to the Quick Reply area which, as you noted is at the bottom of the page.

Well, I think that's how it's supposed to work.  But sometimes, it really doesn't.  I think it's a bit clunky and I kinda hope they plan to rework it a bit in the future.

When you post a reply, you should have a button on bottom right somewhere that says "save draft".  It won't save smileys, attachments or other code, but it will save your words for a few days so you can work out your reply, and saving a draft will help prevent replies being lost in the ethers.

It also auto-saves every 60 seconds, so we're all less likely to lose a post we've spent half an hour writing.

Im not seeing.... wait! is that the Alt Save shortcut?  Not your fault that on this IPAD I dont have an alt key.  Interesting how apple decided one of the most helpful PC controls was unneeded on an IPAD.

Sorry, but that I cannot tell you.  I don't use any mobile devices, so the closest I come is an emulator program that just kinda hints at what one might see on them.

I guess I should buy one...but then I'm afraid someone would expect me to use it!

So, I spent a bit of time poking around, assuming the avatars had to be re-uploaded after the move and couldn't find where to do it...but, apparently, they are here, just not matched up?

I noticed some issues with avatars when I first installed, but I thought they were all back in their right places.  I'll take another look tomorrow and see if I can figure out why it's not finding all of them.

I can't use the quick reply on the iPad, well I can, however I can't see what I'm typing...but the regular reply works fine. Not a problem, just a quirk.

I also find it strange when reading through a thread, I can't tell which topic I'm reading unless I go to the top or bottom of the page. Was it always like this?
