Burda pants almost done, need a hem and buttons! the fam  thinks they are a bit weird, too bad for them!

I'm taking a rest before I tackle the rest of the pants. Then tomorrow I'll finish topstitching the skirt and attach the waist.  Still have 2 shirts to finish up, nothing like the last minute!

Ruthie, what a great suit that is! That jacket looks wonderful. And in dark blue - it will be so versatile!

Wendy - it bet walking away from the pants for a bit saves time in the end... as I have been known to make stupid mistakes that take forever unpicking when I was not concentrated enough.

Bessiecrocker, how are you and your son in law? I hope there's progress for both of you.

Most attractive Ruthie - well done

Beautifully done Ruthie!

As ever Ruthie, your SWAP is both an inspiration and highly wearable

Ruthie, I really like the end result of your swap collection.  It looks great.  Bet you could use that jacket pattern in a rose for a 6pack this summer to extend your collection.   :applause2:

I think I am going to make it...late tomorrow, but all I have left to do is sew up a boat-necked t that I cut out tonight.  I should be home by 8 PM tomorrow...and it should only take an hour or so to sew.

If I've counted right...I've got 11 garments, including one 'previously made'.  I don't know if it matches the fine points of the fabric choices and it certainly isn't going to get a lot of votes, but it is what it is and I will have FINISHED.  Which makes me happy, lol.

Sew Ruthie Sews

Great news Lisa (and you never know how people will vote so don't rule yourself out).
Its a great achievement when you get it completed!

Last day today!! I keep my fingers crossed for those of you finishing up there last garments. I am with Lisa - finishing SWAP makes one happy!

I am about to finish an extra piece for SWAP - a very simple seagreen blouse made from double gauze. The fabric is prominent in fabric stores just now and I bought it last week to make a bohemian style blouse for my daughters friends birthday last weekend. The fabric feels so comfy and it is travel friendly (not to worry about wrinkles), so I bought a bit more fabric for myself. It's gonna be a great springy blouse!

Rather than push through sewing in every spare moment since I returned home last week, well, I've decided that completing SWAP is not in the cards for me this year, and I am okay with that... I spent most of the month of April in the Boston area visiting my family, which precluded any sewing time. The clothing (eight garments) I have sewed for SWAP 2019 are all in regular heavy use in my wardrobe, as is the new daypack I made for my trip (blogged here), and coordinates well with everything I've made in the past, so I feel like a success as far as my planned sewing.

I'm really looking forward to seeing what the folks who have made a full SWAP have done!

That's too bad, indigotiger, but I understand your decision.

I am down to the wire. I was pretty sure last night that I wouldn't be able to finish, but then I managed to get all of my jacket done but the lining, which I think I can finish tonight, plus finish up a pencil skirt, so I should be OK...but will be down to the wire! Will report back tomorrow. I stayed up until 3 a.m. last night :( but know I have to finish by midnight tonight. Fun!

One question (maybe more for the rules board). I have put buttons on my shirtdress and the jacket but if I want to change the buttons (need to buy a different colour) before I take the photos would that be considered "finishing" something after the deadline or just a repair/switch?

dementedfairy

done- but no time for pics or blogging
Hurrah!
Apparently I'm a quintessential Gemini- but I think that's a load of b.s. myselves...

warpjr1965

So many of us nearly done! (or already :) )

I should finish tonight. I am with Lisa, not sure how coordinated everything will be, but I've kept to my commitment to try something new with each SWAP, and that alone makes me happy. Off to sew!
Wendy

luz clara

I am almost finished - 6 buttonholes (on the machine) and 6 buttons! Can I do the math to figure out how to make each garment show up in 2 outfits? Time will tell. Happy Sewing to everyone who is finishing!

Done! Shirt no 1 and a pre made item to the rescue!

Finished!  At 10:51 Central time...whew.  Hopefully pics over the weekend, lol...

Congratulations everyone  :applause2:  Whether you were able to finish or not, we all have some fabulous extensions to our wardrobe.  Soooo looking forward to seeing the gallery!

I'm hoping to post some pics, but I don't think my back is up to doing a marathon photoshoot.  I did a quick 'flatlay' type shot of a couple of combinations, which should plug the gaps.

LynnH

Kudos to all those who completed.  I'm looking forward to seeing the photos.

:applause2: for everyone that has sewn something nice and useful and fun and satisfying with this years SWAP! Even if it is not the full SWAP...

Indigotiger: could you anyway show off your finished pieces? I so like to see outfits, and you make such nice garments, and have such a unique style. With 8 garments done, there is no way to fit the rules? 1 garment can be presewn, 1 can be sewn between Oct/Dec, one can be RTW...

Treefrog, sorry to hear about back problems... hope it'll go away (soon!). But I do like your idea of a 'flat' shot for showing the whole collection. May I copy? The butterfly short look great!

Ruthie, some nice photos there. The blue pants look great on you!

Luz Clara -  :laughalot: master the "...math to figure out how to make each garment show up in 2 outfits?"... I had to jot it down onto paper... But it would not work, because I have only three bottoms. Luckily I read through the rules again - the wildcards have to be pictured only once. Phew... so one of my tops will evolve into a wildcard and will be shown only once in those 10 outfit shots.

I started to also take a hanger shot of my garments on my bedroom door. I'd like to do a 'wardrobe'à la Vivienne Files one day, just to show myself the possibilities of my closet. This SWAP I kept realising that it pays off sticking to a colourscheme since a few years back. All my pieces have lots of other garments to be combined with.   So, planning (in a loose sense) does pay off!!
Eva

crazyquilter

Big congratulations to all!  Hurray for the finishers!  And yay for those who have a mini SWAP with new garments they love adding to their wardrobes.

Indigotiger, I love Eva's request to see your finished pieces and wondering if you might not find the other three garments to fit the rules.  I would love to see how what you finished fits together also.

Treefrog, I am so sorry to hear about your back problems.  I hope they clear up quickly.  I'm looking forward to seeing your photos.

stephaniecan

Done! Just under the wire last evening. Didn't get to do all I would have liked to for my final two pieces but quite happy with them anyhow. On my way to airport to Florence now so packed everything in my suitcase to take photos there.

Congrats all.

luz clara

I finished last night! Final button sewn on final shirt! Morzel thank you for the reminder that the wild card(s) only need to show up once. I'm still working on a chart. Honestly 9 items and 12 photos - I can't keep it all in mind w/o paper and pencil!

Stephanie! Yippeeee -  Florence w/a suitcase full of new clothes.

Go for it.

Stephanie - Hope you have a good trip.  Looking forward to seeing your photos.

treefrog

I've got all my photos loaded into the gallery.  Not the best, but it'll have to do.

Morzel

Treefrog, I like your photos! You prep those pictures so nicely.

Mine are also up. The usual shots on the balcony.

Pictures are looking good ladies!!
I am down with the cold that plagued the family last week, thankfully I held it off till after SWAP.  I'll be working on pics and updates this week.
I still have 4-5 SWAP extension ideas, but I think the fam will go berserk if I hole up in the sewing room for much longer!
Wendy

Those who have shared photos already have set the bar so high for both the sewing and presentation! (Treefrog, Ruthie, Eva) Wow! You have given me ideas for things to make in future.

I think I will bring down the standard a bit. :) Now I have to convince my partner to take the photos, but am hoping to try to do that around Florence this week. I might have to press a few things as my suitcase got jumbled.:)

We are both doing ok.  My son in law will likely need to start chemo sometime soon; he has been having odd reactions that may be something the doctors missed related to the two tumors they took out.  I am slowly but surely recovering.  Some things may never go away (the exhaustion; the nausea) but I am back at work and managing to make it through the weeks with a sense of humour and calm.  And the kids are learning--you can watch it happen.  It is very cool.

dementedfairy

I've been pootling about trying to think through matching my makes to the rules...and I don't think it can be fudged.  This is because I have a habit of making 'feature fabric' items [all those cool shirts] and others made of multiple fabrics [geodesic and fractal tops] and the number of my accent colours starts to go through the roof.  Nonetheless, I'm delighted with all the choices I have to make up outfits, everything is multiply versatile, so rules or not, I'm very happy.  I'll do a collage pic of all the things I made, but will bow out of bothering to assemble an attempt at a proper entry!
Apparently I'm a quintessential Gemini- but I think that's a load of b.s. myselves...

treefrog

Eva -  Love your entry. I would buy it in a flash.

Stephanie - Looking forward to seeing your pictures with Venice in the background.

Dementedfairy - Oh-no!  Can you use a pre-made or RTW garment that you already have to make up the neutrals?
