Does anyone know of a link to instructions on embroidering with the Pfaff CV - maybe a yahoo group or online instructions? I'm especially interested in learning to use my mega hoop.

Hi Denise!

Not a link, but just wanted to check that you've worked through the Owner's Manual...Chapters 7 through 9 (about 36 pages) are all about using the embroidery unit and include a lot of detailed instructions.

Best wishes! (One of these days I'm going to be doing the same thing. Wink Grin)

Found: a favorite silver bracelet that I hadn't seen for a while.  On its four quarters it says "Welcome Introspection; Accept Wisdom; Seek Illumination; Embrace Innocence."   It's like a "magic 8-ball" on the wrist...

Denise, I learned to embroider on my CV doing what Lisa suggests - working through the manual.
Don't just read it - do it!  Smiley  I spent quite a bit of time stitching out various designs and getting to grips with precise positioning; it's well worth the time and effort.

Before you embark on the mega hoop just make sure that you can cope confidently with the other sizes.  I don't have this hoop so can't be of any specific help here - but just don't try to run before you can walk...

I'm slowly going through the book but all those icons just intimidate me. I have to keep going back to the beginning to remind myself what they mean, and then I just play around a bit to figure out where everything is. I stitched out some 9mm decorative stitches and am browing through the built-in embroideries. I may try a design or two today. Attaching the unit is no biggie as it's the same as the one on my D1.

Denise, I agree that the icons can be confusing, I still find that I sometimes need to refer back, but the more you use them the more familiar they'll become.

I stitched out quite a few of the built in embroideries - some are better than others  Smiley - I just used scrap fabric and what ever thread I had.  This is part of the learning process and is neither wasteful of time nor resources. I have never regretted time spent in this way; as far as I'm concerned learning-by-doing is the way for me.

Just enjoy the process....

Ann, thanks belatedly for your advice. I have been trying out some of the built-in embroidery designs and they come out really nice. My dealer told me that the machine comes with a quick start card, which I didn't have, so now that it's in my possession I hope to do a lot more exploring. I also recommended she offer a longer class for new CV owners as the beginning class didn't touch on a lot of features such as decorative stitches, one of the reasons I bought this machine.
