The photos will be posted on my Flickr site. They will be e-mailed to me and then when they are all in place there will be the grand reveal!
The first date that I will accept posts is April 22. I will post the e-mail address on that date.
If anyone has a problem – you will be away or unavailable, then you may pm me and I will arrange to accept your post early.
The last date for posting is May 8 and no late posts will be accepted. This gives you a bit of extra time for taking photos – not for sewing!
A minimum of 6 photos, maximum 12 will be required.
At least one of the photos must be of
you wearing one of your outfits. The other photos may be on you, on a dress form or any other way which shows them well.
You should show how you plan to combine tops and bottoms, the decorative details you have used and together should show everything. You’ll probably need to photograph some bottoms more than once.
As the emphasis this year is on sewing and embellishing skills you should include close-up photos that show a) matching a stripe or print, b) embroidery, beads or sashiko and c) buttons or unusual closure.
Composites will be allowed, but only if they show details of the same outfit, e.g. a back view, a close up or the decorative detail. You may not show two different outfits on the same photo; such photos won’t be posted!
Please
number each photo and then add a brief note to describe each one, any decorative detail and when you plan to wear it, e.g. 1) Pink cotton Jalie top with embroidery, + khaki poly/cotton BWOF pants; weekend shopping. You should also indicate whether the garment was purchased or previously sewn.
Also include a short paragraph about your current life style and indicate how you have showcased your sewing and embellishing skills.
You may also include a link to your blog or personal photo site if you have one.
A note about the photos –
Because voting depends almost entirely on how your garments look try to make them as clear as possible and crop out unnecessary background. Garments will always look better on a person or a dress form than flat or on a hanger. However, you may get better photos of the detail if they’re taken flat – experiment!
Try and enlist a helper, husband, child or friend rather than the “take it myself in the bathroom mirror” type!
I won’t disallow this sort of photo but you’ll be doing yourself a favour if you can possibly avoid them.
If you need to re-size your photos then the longest side should not be less than 800 pixels and preferably no more than 1300 pixels. Flickr will automatically size down if necessary, but won't size up - and I won't either!
