Such nice things here! VtMartha, Shams, KathrynT et al.
I am back in business with a new power cord for my laptop, but now I really must review and print off my holiday card address labels so I can get these in the mail tomorrow. I have never ever sent them out this late before.

KathrynT, that dress looks wonderful on you! So wonderful that I think you should make it up in every color!
The fit is so nice and the lines are so flattering on you. What a great job you did. Enjoy having such a beautiful and comfortable item in your wardrobe!
Laura, I really enjoyed seeing your photos. The pieced denim throw in the background must make your DS so happy. I can imagine a young man curled up under it watching sports on TV. The gift bags are such a good idea, saving on disposable wrapping paper, and allowing for future uses as well. And with winter upon us, your SIL will be delighted with her new snuggie. Cute fabric, BTW.

These little things are annoying but I am not discouraged. I know that experience is my teacher.
I'll be sure to post photos of my pictures after I get home.
Lisa (Remnant), I love that comment about knowing that experience is your teacher. You have such a great attitude about your sewing projects, enjoying them as they are and planning for the changes that you will make in future projects based on what you have learned from these projects. It will be fun to see your photos.
And I just have to say thank you again. Lisa, for posting those wonderful photos of your relative's couture clothing collection a short while back. That was one of the most enjoyable topics that I read in 2009. I keep going back to it for inspiration. Here's a link to the topic, for anyone who missed it:

Two of the Jalie 2804 girls with KK in her new embroidered shirt and leggings. Sam in his new bib and in his Santa suit. What a great day!
I think it is funny that the Jalie shirts are crossing in opposite directions. I knew I was tired. Must have been out to lunch on one of them.
They fit perfectly and the girls loved them. I love it when a plan comes together....

Janis,
OT...I have been thinking about you. On the news tonight, it made it sound like S Dakota was a real mess and some freeways are closed.....I think it was around Sioux Falls. I don't know if you are close to there or not. Will you have trouble leaving as scheduled?
Thanks about the shirts. Tomorrow I start house cleaning to prepare for more sewing. My sewing room has carpet too and I am afraid to walk barefoot in there. Also need to get a Burda pattern for my pants. I love some in the new mag but don't think they would make a good TNT basic pattern.

Stash, all of your sewing and embroidery projects look absolutely wonderful. I'm so happy that you got the girls (and also little Master Sam with his bright blue eyes) to model them. I would think the girls would like having their tops criss-cross differently--it sets the designs even further apart. I doubt that there is a right or wrong with that criss-cross anyway! Great job--both for your sewing/embroidery expertise, and for making your family so happy!

Stash, thanks for thinking of me. We have been snowed in the house. Yesterday, the city didn't plow and we were left here with a two wheel drive truck (my SIL took her 4 wheel drive to Chicago). I haven't seen this much snow in a loooong time. I'm thinking we got close to two feet and it's still snowing. I'm out on a farm and there is a huge field next to the house, so the drifts are very high.
One of the neighbors came over with his bobcat and plowed for us, so I think we can get out today - at least we are going to attempt it.
We are hoping that things will clear up this afternoon and we will be able to leave on schedule tomorrow afternoon. Can't wait to get home to my new sewing room.

Stash,
Your family in their Christmas finery Gamma- made is just beautiful. Is baby Sam not the most beautiful baby? I believe your two Grandchildren are the prettiest children I've seen in a long time. Add to that, your clothes for them always are perfect! And the girls look so happy in their tops. So glad you had such such a wonderful Christmas and everyone enjoyed their gifts ; mine was perfect with DH, DS and DGF!!!!!!

Stash,
How cute all you projects are. I love the little Santa outfit. And thanks for showing the Jalie pattern. I've had my eye on that one. I'm hoping for some inspiration to get me back to the sewing room and your tops may be the key. What a cute family.

Stash, beautiful family and gifts....but that little Sam stole my heart!
Here are a couple of pictures of me in my holiday outfits. I forgot to have my third one photographed. I'll catch up with that when I next wear it.
Outfit 1: Taken very late at night after a full day on the road (7 1/2 hours) which left me feeling woozy and still needing to visit with two families. I managed to remember the photo right before climbing into bed. The skirt is a wonderful thick corduroy which has an undertone of black. I lined it (she says proudly). I was comfy in it the whole day (I thought the waist would start to feel tight after a couple of hours). The top (Pamela's Pattern Perfect T-Shirt tweak) has an embellished neckline which doesn't show in the photo. I overlayed the neck binding with a lace trim and made a couple of faux ties: one with the knit and one with just the lace trim. It turned out just ok. But wearable. The outfit needs a belt or needs tucked in. But it is what it was. Smile.
Outfit 2: Feeling a little more refreshed. This wool jumper has been my go-to jumper since I made it a couple of weeks ago. So warm! I opted to NOT line it for a couple of reasons: I couldn't figure out how with the droopy shoulders and I wanted the warmth of the wool as much as possible. I bound the neck edge with a faux suede. It's a bit wonky. I should have hand stitched it on the inside instead of stitching in the ditch. The top is a simple rendition of Pamela's Patterns Perfect T-Shirt. I usually wear the jumper with a turtleneck - it looks much better - but I thought I would be too hot with the wool, plus turtleneck, plus house full of people. I even roll-hemmed the scarf I'm holding (took off for the photo). The necklace dates from the early '80's and has carved "ivory" elephants. I'm happy to resurrect this old favorite.

I'm posting this because it's the weirdest success I've ever had! I had this piece of fleece forever; my girls even used it as a blanket for a while. I've been trying to get rid of the pieces of my stash that have been sitting to long so this piece had to go. I threw together this jacket in under an hour, I purposely didn't match stripes and only had a black zipper. I put ZERO thought into this thing thinking it would be tried on and shoved to the back of the closet until I tossed or donated it. Well, my daughter loves it! She's had it on since it was finished, and thinks it's the most beautiful jacket she's ever had. I can't tell you how many times I've bought beautiful fabric and spent hours/days sewing something for her that she refuses to wear! I'm not sure whether to be happy about this or not! Either way I thought it was too funny not to share.

p.s. forgive the goofy face, she didn't want her picture taken.

Stash, great projects for your family.
Lisa, isn't it wonderful wearing your own outfits. You look really pretty in your specially sewn clothes.
Angel, its a cute jacket and nice that your daughter loves it.
My latest project was an extra intended for the 'Inspired By the Sea' Collection in November but lost under a pile of fabric, and only found when I started to put the leftover fabrics from that collection away to make a start on the Christmas Collection.
Anyway in a new mood of not allowing UFOs any more I have sewn this up rather than leaving it to languish for another time. It came out quite cute and I am pleased with it.
Its made from the famous Simplicity 4076 scoop neck top with gathers, though mine has a centre back seam and elbow length sleeves with cuffs, in part to fit onto the remnant of fabric left from a previous project.(The previous project being the Jalie crossover top I am wearing in my avatar picture).

Wow is all I can say about everyone's sewing. It was a treat to look at. I made our daughter a basic western shirt the past two days (and it fits me also - a first). It is a tan and gold paisley on a black background. The piping is black satin to give it a sharp definition as I made this shirt with a matching yoke. I didn't do too bad at matching this one way print which I am pleased with. I also have 2 custom made shirts ready for cuffs, buttonholes, and buttons. I will finish them when I go back to Dawson Creek. My other sewing project was to fill a dog bed with foam chips and sew the opening shut. I had made it in September. I sewed 3 sides on a piece of fabric 40 x 60" that I had folded in half. The dog and the cat both love sleeping on this bed.
I have to clean out a couple of rooms tomorrow. My sewing room is becoming a storage room until I finish work in July. DH needs room to move around in the basement. When I get home, I will be very excited to set up my sewing room. I can hardly wait.

Its made from the famous Simplicity 4076 ....
Ruthie - when you posted this I wondered which top this was. When I looked it up - surprise - I own the pattern. Today, I cut it out and I'm having a horrible time getting the gathers at the neck to look nice. My knit is quite thick. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks - Myrna
