I've finally finished a sweater I've been working on for the last three months!  That's a long time for me...

It's from this season's Rowan knitting book and I was tempted as soon as I saw it.  Mainly because it's in Kidsilk Haze, a yarn I love wearing and working with.
It's used here with Shimmer, a shiny rayon/poly yarn that adds a a bit of weight and lustre. Very simple shape, very small needles, very satisfying result. Grin

Absolutely beautiful!  You always inspire me with your "creations" - - your new coat will look great over this sweater!

2mm needles? No wonder it took 3 months to make! Lovely sweater, beautifully made, and looks great on you. The perfect trifecta.  Smiley

Ann That's lovely.  Interesting back neck closure.  Haven't seen that done on a sweater.  But it would be excellent for keeping the neckline from becoming misshappen.  I'm thinking in those terms because I took 2 sweaters out of the closet on Friday and didn't wear either one.  They have stretched at the neckline.

I LOVE your sweater!  I sure wish I could knit--well, more than a scarf or dishcloth.  I am in awe!

I recently completed a green denim jean jacket for my GD. It is McCalls 5860. I've posted a few photos on flickr.

Gorgeous sweater, Ann!  I like the back neck closure, too.  It looks so nice on you, and with so many things.  Should be a very versatile addition to your wardrobe.

I can relate to the small needles.  I just finished a hemp lace shell that was also on 2mm needles (size 0.)  I'm back to my nephew's cabled Xmas sweater now on 1's and 4's.  Those 4's feel huge after the smaller needles.  Grin

Ruth8,  What a nice jacket for your DGD!  I love the color and as you say, those are some great buttons.  Smiley

What a lovely sweater, Ann,and only 3 months!!! My last sweater took more like 2 years, but that's ok! I'd just love to see you knitting..you must be like lightening!!  The greys are so pretty ; a favorite color of mine and are so attractive with your hair.  You were working on this as you worked on your coat? Hm-m-m..you must be very focused.

Ruth8..your denim jacket made for your GD is beautifully topstitched..my favorite detail to include when I can. We have some very fortunate daughters and grandaughters in this  group, don't we?

I am slowly catching a desire to knit.  I don't know if I'll ever get to this level, so I will continue to enjoy your work (and the rest of you who knit so well)

Ann, that really is a great sweater. I can't even knit a scarf without messing it up, so I admire anyone who can do what you do. What energy you must have. I get tired just thinking about knitting something that intricate.

Oh ,Deidre and Betsy thanks for noticing???  Undecided I thought that an update every 5 or 6 years would be a good thing! The photo is larger than I wanted but it is done and posted. My last avatar was posted when SG/AG was first started; so how many years ago was that?  My husband was goofing around with our new camera and here I am ...in full color for all to see,I enjoy seeing others photos although I do not enjoy having my own photo taken.

Ann, STUNNING sweater. You are one amazingly talented woman

Fran - wrinkles? Where? You are a stunningly beautiful woman.

As for me?  I made a good top - after a summer full of waders!!! Oh, sure, it can be tweaked - and can be made in a finer fabric - but I'm happy with it.

Do you know what I did???!!!! I - proudly I must confess - took Loes Hinse' Sweater Set - and created this pullover by morphing the shell with the cardigan, adding a back seam etc etc etc. Just today, when I was writing a blog post, I went to Loes' website to get the URL - and do you know what I found there?HuhHuh?? A V Neck pullover similar to mine! All that work. I don't know whether to laugh or cry....but now I know I can do this. I can create! I can sew! I am thrilled.

There's more on my blog.

I owe you ladies soooooo much - for the encouragement, the inspiration, the lessons, the blogs, the tutorials. Thank you. Thank you.

Ann,   Love your sweater.  The yarn shop I go to has me doing a sweater in silk haze.  I just finshed a shawl in silk haze and silk tao.   I hope my project looks as good as yours when I am done.  My sweater is a Rowan pattern--a cardigan with a little ruffle at the hem.  If I ever learn how to post pics,  I will show it to you.

Remnant - nice work! I think you should laugh about it. Obviously, it was a great idea!

Fall sewing has started for me. I made Jalie 2805 this weekend in a cotton lycra from GorgeousFabrics. Spicy brown, cream, navy. Mock turtleneck, long sleeves. I cut the neck down so it finishes 2" tall; I took a total of 3 1/2" off the sleeve length; I cut 3" off the bottom. My Land's End mock t-necks are all so boxy I might just bring them all down to my machine and take them in. They are horribly boxy and unflattering. This Jalie one is very nice.

Sorry about the photo. I am still figuring out the tripod and timer. It was blurry but I tried to correct using Photobucket's tools.

Ann, I have never been able to master tension while knitting and am truly impressed by the uniformity of your stitches, especially with such a small gauge. Is is harder to regulate with smaller needles? Your sweater is really amazing.

Betsy, Love that knit and the fit is very nice as well. As for your pictures, are you using the flash? That has been my problem... No flash, lots of blurr, despite the light level in the room.

Remnant, Your top turned out great! I agree, I've learned tons here and the support and inspiration are priceless.

Now just need time to sew. Or discipline. Or focus. No pun intended, Betsy!

RuthB, that green denim jacket turned out so nice. Your topstitching looks absolutely perfect. I bet your DGG is going to wear it every chance she gets!
I had to post the pattern picture here to study it.

It's a nice style with those princess seams:

Thanks so much for posting the link to the Flickr photos. I really enjoyed seeing the details of that especially pretty jacket.

Remnant, hooray! No more wadders for you, I'm hoping. Your top looks just right on you.  I hope you are so encouraged by your success that you will quickly make another top as well.

Betsy, I like your top, blurry photo and all. Smiley Those spinning classes are really bringing the results, as your new svelter shape attests! Congrats!

Thanks Jodi & Kathryn!

Jodi I usually turn the autoflash off because the track lights (halogen spots) point that way and the flash usually washes everything out. I'll figure it out - another good use for my dress form  Grin

Love the green denim jacket. I had my eye on this pattern for a while and when bmv had a special recently I ordered one. It is great to see it made up, mine will have to wait a while though it's Spring here but already too warm for jackets. I have a Kwik Sew vest pattern that is very similar so I might make that one up in the meantime.

Very many thanks to all of you for your nice comments about my new sweater.
I have to say that I love using fine yarn and fine needles - it's easy and relaxing. I also find that the tension is much more consistent on fine needles, for me at least.
And yes, it looks very nice under my new coat, which I was making at the same time, but I sew in the daytime, knit in the evening; one of the many perks of being old and retired. Grin

Ruth8, very nice jacket, fabulous top stitching.

FranG - great new avatar.

Betsy, love all the zig zags, even if they are a bit blurry. Smiley  When I'm using the timer and tripod I need to half depress the shutter and wait, to give the camera a chance to focus etc before depressing it fully. I wonder if you need to do this with yours?

Thank you all for the nice and encouraging comments on the jacket. I hope that I am doing this correctly.  Computers ARE NOT my first language.  I had lots of help from DD posting and taking the pictures. Lucky for me.  The jacket made its way to DGD yesterday  and I am awaiting a "fit" report.  Hopeful it is a bit big as she is 14 and still growing.  I already have to look up to her and I'm 5'8''. Thanks again for your comments.  They are much appreciated. BTH that denim was vintage.  I think I bought it in the 1970s.  And there were fade lines on the fold lines that I had to cut around.  Now I am working on a black corduroy in the same pattern  for myself. I really like the pattern and it is well-drafted.

OH Ann, I love that sweater.  I have to admit that it is on my list from the fall Rowan, and as soon as I saw it I hoped you would make it so I could ogle it and dream.  I intend to make it later, after my current reconfigurations are set and stable.  In the meantime it looks really fabulous on you, and I am glad the eaterh is cool enough to enjoy it.

Ruth*, what a nice jacket for your DGD.  I love the color, such a fabulous shade of green and the topstitching looks just perfect.  Beautiful topstitching is something I hope to achieve someday and I admire anyone who can do it.

Fran, I adore the new avatar!  you look marvelous and reading your posts is almost like talking to you, you look so bright, cheery and friendly.  I don't or didn't like getting my photo taken either, but I am learning that one can grow accustomed to it.

Lisa, your top is really pretty and I like the way you created it by combining patterns to get what you want.

Betsy, love the top.  Blurry or not you look great.  I think I am taking in a bunch of boxy turtles too.

Ann, the sweater is stunning. I'm amazed at only 3 months on 2mm needles.
And Ruth8 everyone is so right in saying that your topstitching on the denim jacket is a wow! I'm sure your dgd will love wearing it.
Betsy, Love the new haircut!  Cheesy top is nice too!
Remnant, isn't it nice to finish something that works out? Your top looks great too. Congratulations for figuring out the whole pattern morph thing.
Fran, your new avatar pic is so bright and happy.

I'm inspired by everyones productivity.
Personally I'd love to finish something, anything, in my sewing room right now. Anything!
I'm afraid though that everything I'm going to be finishing will be class samples and Home Dec items. heading there now, as I have a day off work.

Amen to all the compliments listed above. Ruth *, the denim (vtg) jacket is TDF and beautifully stitched. Fran, you look lovely as usual. Betsy, the mock  turtle neck is quite nicely shaped, and Ann R. the sweater is amazing and goes so well with your existing wardrobe. Remnant, your top is perfect fitting and you didn't have to buy the additional pattern. Hope that is some consolation!

Remnant,  Your top looks so nice, and think of how much you learned doing your own pattern changes.  Now you know you can do it even if you buy the pattern for ease of use.  Smiley

Betsy,  You look very Missoni, even if a little blurry.  Wink

Fran,  That's a great avatar.  As to the subject of not liking photos of ourselves, I've figured out that all it takes is about 5 years, and then I think I looked pretty good back then.  Grin  So, why not enjoy now? You really do look great.  Cool
