One of our local free papers had a style issue this week doing a project runway style feature inviting new, independent Nashville designers to create an outfit for the feature.  Here are the links:

Introductory article

The designers' work

I also followed a link to a new organization that has opened up a whole new world I didn't know existed in Nashville.  The Nashville Fashion Group was formed to support the incipient Nashvillle fashion industry and build it to national prestige.  We ain't Toronto, but we just might be getting hipper.

Nashville Fashion Group

Those of you in other towns of this size may be surprised what you begin to find in your own backyards.

Enjoy!

our local paper had a 'project runway' type competition this past spring.  it was fun to read about:

Bolting to the Finish Line

The votes are in

designer bios and their sewing boxes

i found out one of the designers has a shop about 2 miles from where i live.

I'm jealous! Our local fashion scene is non-existent. Which when you think about it is weird considering we have Yale and 4 other universities within 20 minutes of each other. I 've always figured it was that it was because we were so close to NYC, but working at Yale, I think there is a whole reverse-chic thing that goes on. "I'm so smart, I dress like I don't care about what I look like." kinda thing. For someone that is visually stimulated it is all so depressing.
