Ok.  My pictures are posted.  Thanks, Lisa!

And we forgive you, Elizabeth, of course.   Wink  Life just gets in the way sometimes.  I hope everything is ok.

Elizabeth,

We do thank you for starting this contest and especially to Lisa for finishing it. But I for one would like to say that "Been there; done that ---let situations overcome my ability to complete something  the right way . I'm not even sure that statement of mine makes sense, just know that I understand how things like this can happen. After all, you all human.

Fondly,

Dear all,

I'd like to first APOLOGISE to you all (again) and second THANK SO MUCH the moderators for picking this up.

Because I would like to be able to show my face around here, since I love this board, I will just briefly explain what's happened.  I basically did not have the time to post pictures and after I had PROMISED to do it and still had time I just felt so bad that I didn't even check in or explain or ask for help.  Which I ought to have done.  And I feel very small.  Because everyone worked so hard on the contest.  (Except me, I guess).  Well, here is a big dose of humble pie.  Anyway since I hadn't done the pictures (since I never GOT the time) I didn't want to post and it became a really vicious cycle.  What a contrast to last year when they were done really quickly, with many more contestants.

Anyway I am feeling so thankful that our wonderful mods have stepped in.   Please PM me to vent and I will apologise personally as well.

Your very bad friend,

Elizabeth
First off you are not a bad friend!  Life does get in the way.  Don't be so hard on yourself!!

Several finishers have posted their pictures, but since all submissions are not yet in, other members should not look yet!  nono  Cheesy  We'll let the members know as soon as all of the pictures are posted and their submissions are complete.

I just wanted to remind the finishers to include the text Elizabeth asked for in the "description" of your photos.  Wink Grin While you all have listed pattern and fabric, some of you haven't included the other text requested by Elizabeth:

what you think the best part of the collection is, and why you should win.  Oh, and something about what the orphan is and why you thought it worth saving.

Please remember that she also said that she doesn't

WANT TO HEAR ANYTHING ABOUT ANY FLAWS OR WHY YOU DON'T DESERVE TO WIN AND I WILL EDIT THOSE PARTS OUT.  Seriously, we don't give ourselves enough credit.

Thank you to those who have posted already! thumbsup

Elizabeth, how nice to hear from you again!  I would venture to guess that every single one of us has at one time or another been in a situation where there simply were not enough minutes in the day to complete the tasks at hand.  When that happens, prioritization causes some things to be left undone.  The important thing is that you’re here now.

Everyone here knows how nicely and enthusiastically you conceived of and ran the JCC last year, even donating your own money for a prize.  That generosity of spirit has not been forgotten.

Never again will you have the confluence of events that caused the situation this year.  Finishing up a doctorate (a very stressful time indeed), caring for a small child, and taking care of the rest of life’s demands quite understandably caused sewing and sewing related endeavors to take a back seat. So as Marcia and others have said, don’t be so hard on yourself.

If we didn’t stumble now and again, we’d never truly appreciate the joy of running well.  Smiley

Kathryn,

You express yourself so beautifully. I love your last sentence and may plagarize it at some time. No, I'll give you credit; that's the old English teacher coming out citing my source. Lovely, lovely words.

I posted my picture.

And, Elizabeth, I know one sometimes behaves stupid out of shame. Good luck with your thesis and defence! Next year it's my turn...

Here are the names of members who ID'd themselves as finishers in the JCC discussion thread:

CarolTrendall
Clambaby
Hen
JennyAnne
Kbenco
Robin
RuthieK
Scarletthread

We'll use this list for voting and picture submissions.   There may be more of you.  If so, please post here so that we know who you are.  I'll add those names to this list!

Congratulations to all of you!

Lisa

I've been away (on the boat) with no internet access since mid-July, but I see I'm not too late to follow through on the addition to the prize pool that I'd offered up.
I have 3 Bishop Books that would make a nice addition to a sewing library. I'd like to send them off to three different homes. If you finished and would like to be included in the random drawing for one of the books please send me a PM through SG here and I'll award the books when the pictures of the collections get put up.

I must say I'll be returning to the boat in 2 1/2 weeks, and I'd really like to have these books shipped off before then.

Again, congratulations to all who completed their wardrobes! Kudos to you.

I am away 1-11 September so will miss the announcement of the voting on the JCC. I want to wish my fellow participants all the best, and I dare say I will find out what happened when I come back.
I might be able to find an internet cafe along the way, but there's no internet access from the apartments we are staying in, so I probably will find out on my return.
