Hi all
I have decided not to participate in the June CC2. I would have to do an aweful lot of work on the patterns and I am in the process of losing weight and excercising, it feels like it might not be worth it just yet. I'm also not buying any new clothes (hard for me) for the next few months, until I am in at least 1 or sizes smaller.
I will cheer from the sidelines though!

I'm finally getting around to posting my orphan jacket. I made this a long time ago when I was two sizes bigger and new to jacket making. I have figured out how to alter it to fit better and I will take the lining out to interface the front to make it sit better. While I'm at it, I will add bound buttonholes and actually put the buttons on! It's a really hard colour to match with, but I am thinking brown pants and/or skirt to start with. I plan to make two bottoms and two tops, that is assuming I can find something that goes. Any suggestions for colours is very welcome. I have enough of this wool left to make a cap for my accessory. I am rather partial to caps at the moment, seeing as it is very, very cold and my hair is very short!
here is a shot of the rather gaudy purple lining snoopy lining - perhaps that should go altogether??

The snoopy lining is secret, fun and amusing. I think it should stay (and where did you find it!)

Carol, I don't know your colouring, and I am not totally sure of the jacket colouring - lemon, mustard, or chartreuse (green-yellow) are all possibilities from my monitor! I think navy would be a nice neutral - a pair of navy wide-legged trousers would be smashing; also brown. I'd make a pale yellow top maybe, or cream? I'd get a scarf as an accessory with a print that picks up your yellow and the neutral you pick. Looking forward to see what you put with it!

Carol, the lining is too much fun to get rid of. It's such a nice secret you have to keep it.
Jenny, congrats to you and your family! He's a cutie!
Ejvc, good choice on your orphan, I really like it.
I have to admit I did some sewing which has nothing to do with my capsule. Sewing a quick t-shirt is so much more fun than sewing the difficult parts of my pants and my jacket *sigh* I'm not good at motivating myself at the moment.

Zora - does the tee match the jacket and pants??!!
MOTIVATION!!! Go ahead, just pick up your pants and start with it! Step by step, with some good music and a nice cup of tea next to it!

Sadly, I'm going to have to bow out of the JCC comp. I just don't have the time to make the items, or the money to buy the fabric, right now. I WILL be making everything at some point, but not in this timescale.
It was fun doing the plan though!

I still want to do the JCC, but I don't know how things will go. I've bought lots of fabric, but work has been crazy and is likely to continue crazy for another week or two at least. I guess if I want to participate I just need to choose the simplest pieces and make those first to make sure I qualify. I am in love with my fabrics though and desperately want to sew them up.

Thank you for the encouragement scarletthread :-) you have more faith in me than I do in myself.
I bought another co-ordinating piece of fabric today, which I love though have no idea what it will become - some sort of floaty blouse I think.

Carol, I agree the lining is a keeper.
ejvc, your orphan and accessory are great, I look forward to seeing what you make to go with them.
Ruthie, the latest fabric is the best of your new fabrics, I hope you have time for some sewing this month.
I wasn't feeling any desire to sew things to go with my orphans until I thought of a cashmere print shawl I bought a couple of years ago. It isn't a complete orphan since I wear shawls as jackets and grab whatever goes the best with an outfit but I don't have anything that shows off the shawl. I went stash diving and found a couple of knits that work and I have my partially finished black knit skirt from WIAW last month. I also found a knit top I sewed last summer that needs a bit of tweaking for a good fit so I am thinking a knit top like that one from one knit and a dress from the other knit. I will also make a skirt from the material in the knit top. Combined with my black skirt that should give me 4 sewn items and an accessory with 3 completely sewn this month.

Well, I guess Snoopy stays! Thanks everyone!
ejvc - thank you for the navy suggestion, it's a colour I never consider! The jacket is chartreuse so navy would be a good option. I have a great Vogue wide leg pants pattern that I used for my SWAP and I know it fits. I think I even have a scarf with limish green and navy somewhere in my collection. Looks like I have to buy more fabric

I agree, Carol, keep the snoopy lining. It is so cute. RuthieK, love that fabric. Over at the
Tessuti blog
is a flowy, pin-tucked blouse (Simplicity) that might be a fit for the fabric. Is it a voile?
I had wanted to participate in the June Capsule, but haven't had the mojo for sewing in the last couple of months. Hopefully, I can actually get my act together and sew something soon. In any event, the posted pics show some lovely well-made garments.

Got two shirts done this week - the burgundy one was the first and I had to try this poloneck opening first- it is not perfect but wearable. The second (teal/deep seagreen one) went together better. The placket goes down to my belly button (yes, that is very low) but this way I can decide, how far down I want to open the shirt up when nursing. Reason for two pictures is I wanted to show the shirts with the accessory. The shirts are in my hospital bag already...
Next up a cardigan in burgundy.

I am back to this thread having had to tune out for various work related and other duties the past three weeks. I am so inspired by the ideas here. My own plans have changed a lot with only two weeks left and not one thing started except my accessory knitted bag, which really is a shocking pink string bag I love, the reason being that it is made up of holes and so hides my bad knitting - a project that I could do in my random spare minutes.
In the meantime my DD who is expecting in September has run out of clothes and needs me to make some for her. She's 5'10" and putting on her weight where my dad would have called across the beam, although we are not sharing this description with her, and needs bottoms that accommodate this, and are long. I have an experimental pair of crops ready to stitch with the wide knit band at the top twice as wide as usual. If these work I may be doing a maternity capsule and she says her orphan is a body that doesn't go with anything
We will see what we can figure out.
In the meantime I will enjoy reading along and my own June capsule has just been renamed July.
Such great beautiful work ladies. Love the colours.

What a lovely thing to do for your DD.
When one of my tall friends was pregnant she was desperate for clothes as she had trouble finding anything to fit.
I made her one pair of pants which she wore a lot at the end.
I just finished hemming my other curtain so I am now a little more free to actually cut into some of my gorgeous lime fabrics. I am so excited!
I am starting with a knit top in a TNT pattern and will hopefully have something to share tomorrow.

Ruthie, I have enjoyed seeing your fabric. Barbara, your [father's] description of the weight is pretty funny.
I have been busier than I expected with work, so haven't made any progress.
But I am not bowing out til July 1!! I might still sew something.

I am struggling, not so much with the sewing as with the putting together of fabrics. Ugh! Well, whatever happens, I will have some new clothes.

I finished one pair of shorts today - another Burda 8097. Next up is another morph of the Ottobre tee I re-drafted for WIAW. This time I am shortening and splitting the overlay portion at center and using a ribbon closure under the bust instead of the elastic. Think it might be cute if done properly. I hope to get the tee completed, hem into the maternity dress, and a maternity half-slip made this week (the last two items are not contest pieces.) That leaves two tops and a baby sling to jam into the end of the month. Still very do-able as long as the machines do not act up. DH is impressed that things are being sewn and not headed into the stash. Sizable leftovers are going into a bin so that I can make kids clothes - especially the solid colored knits and bottom weights. Already thinking ahead to a winter wardrobe for our oldest.
I hope pics on hangers are OK at the end. Like Eva - these things will fit in a few weeks.
Eva - love the new tops. I'm trying to pick out what goes into my hospital suitcase from the clothes created in the last month. After JCC, time permitting, I am looking at two newborn outfits. Something special for baby from Mommy on the day we come home. Probably better off getting outfits at the store.
Clambaby- Completing a maternity capsule is so do-able. I'm 5'11" and love the Burda pants pattern above. If I leave off the pockets, its less than 45 mins to sew up. I also added to the band height. This baby really does not like the elastic to fall at what was my normal waistline.

Eva, great tops! That's the kind I like to wear (button down). I think it's easier to cover an exposed chest with a blanket than deal with having my whole post-partum belly sticking out. Just my personal preference, of course.
I'm going back and forth about my capsule. There's only three pieces to make, so I still think I can finish (even though I haven't started), but I don't think I'll do the yellow dress I had planned since that will require a muslin, or at least extensive fitting time. So, I'm not sure if I just want to replace that piece or start all over. I have a pair of pants I made last winter that are truly an orphan. I can't think of any tops that go with them. But I do have some creamy knit fabric that I could whip up a top wit, as well as a cream silk charmeuse. Then I could either make a quick accessory or another pair of TNT pants. Decisions!

Dear friends,
Love to see the progress. We are now in Wardrobe in A Week territory! If you've not yet started, I urge you to take at least some of this week as prep time and then whizz through everything production style. Remember, there are wonderful prizes at stake!

Elizabeth, you cruel woman
(Not at all seriously of course) Even in Australia, it is only June 14th at the moment, which by my counting leaves a whole 16 days left of sewing. Wardrobe in a Week this is not yet!
I have just spent the whole weekend playing with my new cover stitch machine. Sorry for skiting, but it is very exciting to actually be able to hem a t shirt properly. Some clever people can manage this with an ordinary sewing machine, but I am not one of them! I have 2 new t shirts, and so does my son, but none of them are for the June Capsule. I know, shameful, but one of them was a sort of muslin for another June Capsule top. I will try for something scheduled during the week.
Jenny, I have just popped over to your blog to look at your gorgeous new baby. How on earth do you manage to sew at the moment! You must be very organized. Congratulations.
Eva, very nice new mum tops. I like the colour combinations.
Ruthie I was posting at the same time of you and your lovely green top has just popped up. I like the casual wrap style, really appropriate the print.

Yes I agree with Karen
, its not (quite) as bad as the WiaW as we have more than 2 weeks left and you can cut and sew stuff straight away.
I decided to tackle it by doing TNTs to start with and then going on to more complex items if time (and workload at work) allow.
Current thoughts are Jalie crossover top, Simplicity knot front top, Loes Hinse Gore skirt and Burda Wof wide leg pants, but we will have to see what I come up with!
So mine may end up being a version of my WiaW only in Lime and Black instead of Brown and Orange. That's something I am perfectly happy with, because at the end of the month I will have 4 new outfits to wear with my orphan necklace and that makes it all worthwhile.

Ruthie love the green top and the way the pattern pleats into a new design around the neck. Beautiful.
A maternity June capsule has been confirmed. I made a pair of black rayon/poly knit crops/gauchos yesterday for DD and drove over for a fitting. Good but I had to take off the front of the band and scoop it down at the front. I have got to get used to this under the belly style for maternity clothes. I added a 2 inches to the length and that was helpful and doubled the band width so she can fold it over now and roll it down as needed. I will make another pair this afternoon and then we are off to the fabric store for knits for two tops. Hope we can find something. I am eyeing the bamboo knits at Fabricmart but not sure if I can get it here in time. DD is a pediatric oncology nurse (she loves the job) and as it is so family centered she can wear whatever she wants as long as it is neat and comfortable. So the knit tops will be work tops for the next couple of months.
The orphan is a top she bought and the accessory will be a bag or what she really wants some kind of pareo to wear around her bathing suit this summer.
Here is the pattern I am using for the bottoms (view C which is still very full in the leg) the front scooped down 2". This is the first time I have used a knit band for a waist and am surprised at how well it works without elastic, may think about this later for something for myself.
