so much creativity!  I've been knee-deep in work sewing, but had to manage something for me.  I local film-maker had a fundraiser yesterday that was too much fun to miss.  It was an Edward Gorey Garden Party, I was aiming for the fainting lady on the wall in the Mystery! intro.

with my escort, posing behind the Overlook House

His suit was already in the closet, a mixture of 1863+1941.  My dress was made for the event, and the fabric was chosen because it's a bit unsettling.  I bartered for the hat, and added the feathers and other decorations yesterday morning.  Lots of fun, and we're looking forward to the 30's Jazz Night coming in August.

What a fun party, and what great outfits.  Love the dress, Ms. Funk.  Where did the "unsettling" fabric come from?
You did a great job with the dress and hat both.

thanks for the kind words; we did have a lot of fun.  The thing I like best about living in Portland is all the creative people who throw fun parties- it gives me justification to buy more fabric   Wink .  I found this poly chiffon on the clearance table at JoAnn; it doesn't show up very well but there are applied strips of the fabric swirled all over the yardage making the print even busier than if it were flat.  The other benefit?  Nobody can see where I had to add a godet over my hips  laugh .

The lady I contract with is doing a fashion show for a car club at the end of the month and can't afford to pay for any of the dresses to be made; I am making two of the dresses in exchange for her shaping the straw hat from a blank.  Since I'm participating in the show as well, I'll get to wear it again with my linen suit (which I'm cutting out this week).   Funny, the older I get the more I appreciate a wide brim on a hat.

What a great look Ms. Funk. And way to go on trading expertise in sewing for expertise in hat making.
