Just popping in for a minute....great to see many of you last week at ASG. I have not stopped (so what else is new) since we hit home...got the truck unpacked, returned, then Sandy and I turned our sites to the upcoming 'Certified Teacher Training' weekends coming up over the next two weekends. Tons had to be printed for hand outs, I still have to get all my teaching samples organized once again.  After class I raced back to the booth because the floor was open to start cutting fabric so the teaching samples for that class were 'not placed nicely' in the bag Roll Eyes.

I'm glad you discovered the little vest/top in YED, Angle. It also looks great over the tunic that is in the pattern (this can be cut to any length...from it just peaking out from under the vest to the length it is in the pattern). The stitch termination point for the armscye is lower so it can be worn over other garments. It is just a dot at the side seam and can be stitched higher if you would like. The vest adds the 'third piece' to a T-shirt and pants outfit and not a lot of weight for this 'over the top' heat we all seem to be having this summer.

Yes, you caught me...the reduced prices of patterns on the website will be going out of the line shortly. JGF, T&C, EMW, FTA, are all gone. Pieces and parts of the different patterns in a different form may come back in the line in the future. If all I did was stay home and produce patterns, I still would not run out of ideas...there has to be about 25 'in the can' waiting their turn...'pick me'...'pick me'...'pick me'... is what I hear when I walk into my sewing room.

I just finished up sewing the last of the new pattern...'2 x 4'.  Plus, I want to start to do a sewing proof of the next one (to see if it 'hang together'), maybe over the weekend. Both will not be out until Dec. because of my upcoming schedule.  I am going to try to illustrate the two covers before I leave for vacation in Sept...so you will at least know what I am talking about.

I will now jump over to EAC and see what you gals have been up to...that sure has taken on a life of it own...thank you all for that....more to come. till later, Louise

Mom2five - thanks to you I've now cut out an everyday drifter top!!  I dug out the pattern earlier today - it's dated 8-00 so fitting that I should use it 10 years later!! Grin  I made a couple of the shirts and I had the top partially cut out and shortened but that was as far as I'd got!  I also noticed I had a brand new pattern - I'd purchased it for $5 when a fabric store that I frequented was going out of business!  I'm making the vest out of the same denim that I did the OS's with (see that pic for description)  I'm hoping that will be my project for tomorrow!!

Here's today's project!  I finished the drifter top - made it in the same denim as the OS's.  It was a fun quick top - wish I'd have made it some years back.  Tomorrow I'm going to start on my 20yo burda shirt pattern that I posted on the burda thread.

Marciae and Mom2Five, you are both working these patterns!   Louise's patterns look good on everyone, no matter what our ages.

Louise, always interested in what's in the works.    The fall issue/Sept Harper's Bazaar arrived yesterday and there were all my favorite neutrals.   Lots of camel and gray together that I've been pairing forever, but many of the styles are so trendy that only a wealthy fashion victim would think to add them to her wardrobe.       One camel/gray look with a long vest over grey crop pants would be a lot more attractive using the Of The Moment vest over a narrowed pant in a drapey fabric instead of those awful things with the huge cuffs  Shocked

Got in late last night from a very intense workshop with Louise and Sandy in Winter Park. WOW is my head full! We worked nonstop from Friday morning until late Monday afternoon. And who cared if it was storming outside! I don't care how many times I attend an event with Louise I always learn something new. She is so full of knowledge and knows how to share it in such an interesting and humorous way. She looks great by the way - Way to go, Louise! Proud of your weight loss! Sandy was her usual sweet and gracious self; standing for hours cutting fabric at Louise's house after tag-team teaching with Louise all day.

We worked on the new sizing chart to cut out some of the fullness in the One Seams. I was very pleased with my "new fit." We worked intermittently with making mini-samples of various sewing techniques. All of these are explained in the instructions on Louise's various patterns; but it was very helpful to focus in on each technique without worrying about an actual garment at the moment. After Monday's session I now have reams of notes to process and use in teaching classes. I just hope that I can mimic the same enthusiasm, care, and eagerness to share this knowledge with others as Louise does. Thank you Louise and Sandy for making the long trip so worth it!

Flood Update:  Daddy was able to move back into his condo last Thursday, August 12th. He is taking his time about replacing furniture; but has bought a new sofa and recliner. We make lists, daily, of things that are missing; wonder where the potato peeler went? Guess we need a new one!

I went to a sewing retreat with Louise Cutting and Sandy this past weekend. It was the best thing I've ever done! I would recommend it to anyone. The first three days were fitting and sewing the One Seam Pants, learning awesome industry techniques for clothing construction, adjusting patterns for better fit; and the last day was to be certified to teach sewing with Cutting Line Design patterns.

Linda,

Have a fabulous time! I too was at last weekends workshop and it was an awesome experience from the tips on fitting any pattern to the specific tips and tricks of sewing Louise's patterns. I have been putting off sewing Louise's skirt patterns because I was not sure of fit so I tried a couple on and Louise showed me where I needed to make them smaller and shorter to fit my petit figure - they were beautiful.

One new addition to my bag of tricks for the one seams is to use 4 darts, instead of the pleats, to remove excess fulllness. Because my waist is markedly smaller than my hips two of the darts were placed at the side (on the grainline) and two were placed at the back. These pants really fit very nicely. Louise provided templates for the darts.

Louise and Sandy were as beautiful as ever and wore something each day that made me want to make that. They were totally put together with gorgeous clothes and jewelry. Louise has turned me on to a designer of beaded jewelry who uses unusual beads and I  ordered my first necklace online yesterday.

Everyone that can attend one of Louise's workshops should. The added perk for me is finding new sewing friends that I plan to keep forever.

I"m glad you dad is back in his home.     It probably seems forever, but some people are still displaced, so he's one of the lucky ones.   I hope he'll get it all put back together soon.  I was holding my breath, last week, when the Cumberland got high again!

One of the numerous reasons that Louise is so loved and successful is her grooming.  She is a walking showcase of what good fabric and fit can do.

Of course, her undertanding of fabric and bodies and knowledge of pattern making combined to produce elegant styles we all love.

OK, here it is. Of course, seeing these necklaces in person, adorning Louise & Sandy's lovely clothes gives you a better appreciation of how they can look.

I returned last night from the workshop.  I finally have a very nice fitting pair of pants and can't wait to make more.
Louise looks fantastic and I don't think she needs to loose any more weight.
Louise and Sandy make a great teaching pair and I am so glad I got to attend the workshop.  I meet some wonderful women and made some new friends.
I am opening a sewing school in my embroidery shop.  I have cleared out two of the offices for classrooms.  The first class will be on One Seams and will be the first of October.  Need to get some advertising out.
If you have the chance, attend one of Louise's workshop weekends.  It is a wonderful learning experience.

off topic-

Linda I noticed that you are in Cincinnati.  Where are you located?  My Aunt and cousins live there, I could pass the info on to them.  They all sew already, but they might be able to pass info to others.

I plan to make a skirt from the FTA or Relax A Little, but do not know where to begin to shorten the pattern (at least 7 inches) since I am 5'1". Also, which is the least fuller of the 2 patterns? Thanks Smiley Huh
