Melodye, you cannot upload a photo from your computer into the body of your post, as you are trying to do. It has to be on a photo website to do that.

However, you can upload a photo from your computer into the end of your post by clicking on the "Additional Options" link at the bottom of the post and following the instructions there.

Do you have a photosite? If so, you can just do the following:
1. Go to your photosite
2. Select the image that you want to appear in your post. Make sure it is the actual image and not a thumbnail.
3. Right click on that image.
4. Select the "Properties" option
5. Highlight and copy the URL in the middle of the Properties box that opens. Make sure you get the entire URL, since you may have to scroll from left to right to highlight all of it.
6. Copy that URL
7. Come back to your post on SG and paste the URL into it.
8. Highlight that URL once more and click on the little picture icon at the top of the post. That puts an

Code: [Select]

[img][/img] bracket around it.
9. When you post or preview your post, the image will appear.

Thanks once again. I got frustrated and took a break. When I tried to load it from Flickr, I got the file too large error message. I'll keep playing.

Leslie, you need to highlight the URL for the picture and once it is highlighted, then click the little picture icon. That will make the line look like this

and when you click "Post" or "Preview" the image will appear like this:

Also, you are using the Web address (URL) of the page on that Vogue website that has that pattern. That won't work. You need to get the URL of the actual picture itself. To do this,

1. Right click on the picture
2. Select Properties
3. Copy the URL that is in the middle of the Properties box that opens
4. Come back here and paste it into your post.
5. Highlight that URL and click on the picture icon. Your picture will appear when you hit Post or Preview.

I actually just realized my posting was pretty goofy--I should have explained that I was just trying to figure out how to link. I hope nobody was disappointed not to find bob loblaw's law blog!

1.first type the phrase "bob loblaws law blog"
2. highlight the entire phrase
3. click on the world icon above. That will give you

4. now insert your cursor just after the "l" in the first bracketed "url", type an equals sign, and then paste the web address of bob lobaw's website there. It should look like this:

[url=http://bobloblaw etc]bob loblaw's law blog[/url](I just put a fictitious site address in there since I obviously don't know it)

5. Click Post or Preview and your link should appear.

Not having success trying to insert a photo from my flickr albumn--am following some of Kathryn's directions from a few posts back

When I use the code you added, and put it in a browser address window, it took me to your flickr page (where the picture is) instead of to the picture itself. If I right click on your picture, and then choose "properties" from the drop down menu, I can see the URL for the picture (instead of the page. When I copy that and bring it back to my reply window, click on the image icon (2nd button, 2nd row, looks like a little landscape picture), then paste the address, I get this:

There are two things you'll want to watch:

1. Use the URL from the image itself (from right-clicking on the picture, etc.), not the URL of the Flick page that the picture is on...

2. There is duplicate code at the beginning and end of your code-string, which you'll want to eliminate. From the beginning, you'll only want to have one of these:

You weren't far off...or I couldn't have found your image!

When I click on the photo and highlight the URL in the bo in the properties section, I cannot copy and paste it. Yes, I know I can take the hard way and copy it by hand into the message, but shouldn't I be able to copy and paste it?

I'm not sure if you ended up knowing how to copy & paste the info the image URL (you're right, you con't need to type it character-by-character

)

Just in case...after you've right-clicked on the photo itself, and chosen properties, you'll see that one of the properties described is:

Address:
(URL)

Put your cursor on the multi-line entry ID'd as the "Address (URL)", then hit the "Ctrl" key and while holding that down, click the letter "A" (aka "Ctrl-A"). This will highlight the entire entry. Then "Ctrl-C" (which will copy what you highlighted). Then come back to your post/edit window, and put your cursor where you want the image. Then click the image icon (2nd button, 2nd row, above) which will put the following in your post:

[img][/img]Your cursor will be between the two tags (where you want to paste your image URL (so "Ctrl-V" to paste it.

Hope that helps! (Go ahead and past another one here! That way we'll know if there's anything else...

Nope, didn't work. Lisa, I did exactly like you said in the previous post. copied photo address, clicked the "img" icon with cursor between and pasted. When I saved the post nothing showed up at all. If it doesn't work this second time, will you please advise. Do I need to refresh the page afterwards? I would think that once I save I should be able to see it. Thanks. laura

Hi lsoutherla,

You're using the page URL, not the image URL.

Here's the difference:
- The top URL is the second one you used in your post, and if I paste it into a browser, it will take me to the page with your image on Flickr.
- The lower URL is from the image on the Flickr page. You must right click on the image itself and choose Properties and get the URL from there.

Here's what you get when you post the two URLs as images, in the same order.

The reason it does this is because you cannot post a whole webpage as an image, and that's what it's being asked to do.
