HEY KAREN
Congratulations, Marciae. You are really on a roll. I've got to look up the ABO top. Sometimes I can't remember the acronym's meaning. LOL!

I hope to stay on this roll!  Last night I sewed the darts and the shoulder seams in the new P&S (pure & simple).  I put it over "trixie" and pinned the sides a bit - looks like the large is going to be just fine!!  Just finished cleaning the bathrooms - need to get off the computer and start the crock pot - THEN I'm hoping to finish the top today.

I'm almost finished with my Pure N Simple top.  I stay stitched the neckline, then stitched the darts and the shoulder seams.  Basted the side seams and tried it on.  It put a big grin on my face.  It feels just a smidge tight across my hips, but doesn't look tight; AND fits perfectly across my shoulders. Wahoo! Wahoo!  This looks so good on me.  Really balances my hips and shoulders, which this pear-shaped body needs.

I'm cheating.  Instead of facings I'm using bias tape.  Just have one more sleeve to go and it will be ready.  I'm going to add about 1/4" to the hip area for future blouses.  Althought the next I have planned is a knit and it probably won't need the extra ease.  I'll try to photo it today when my first blouse is done, but it will be on my dress form, Mimie.  It's still winter in SD.  I got goosebumps yesterday just trying it on for a few minutes.

Louise this is really a winning pattern.

Here's my P&S top and my Ebb blouse - I even put shoulder pads on Trixie!!  Notice the short sleeves on the Ebb - I'm going to lengthen on the next one.

Not fair!  I have spent two days showing the missionaries here in Haiti the new techniques, and telling them about the new shell pattern that is PROBABLY at my house now, doing me no good.

Thanks to Louise and all the independent designers from whom we benefit.

Marcia,
thanks for posting your top made from hand-painted Hawaiian fabric.  It certainly made up beautifully!
And is that other top really stretch velvet?  It looks comfy.
Very nice!

Oh...I LIKE..I LIKE I just got my P&S pattern .  I also lengthened the Edd about an inch..thinking about shortening it for spring wear. The P&S top is just the perfect thing for a limited amount of fabric. Thanks Louise

The Ebb top is out of a poly georgette that I'd had "forever".  I also made my first burda pants out of the same fabric sas I had a large piece!  Doubt I'll wear them together though - on the other hand..... Shocked Shocked

ETA - I just tried on the P&S - the bust dart is about 1/8 of an inch too low - the neck and shoulders need to go down to a size Med.  Also the fabric is very stiff so am off to the washer and will try on again before I adjust the pattern.

I put on the Less is More Top that I made a few weeks back and it is huge on me??  I used the same pattern as I'd used before - same type of silk fabric - - go figure.  The neckline is so large I can't put should pads in without them showing!! Shocked

Marciae -- beautiful P&S.  I like your Ebb too.

Here's mine.  Finished yesterday and photoed on my dressform Mimie.  I was really suprised when I tried it on Mimie.  It was a struggle to get my P&S on her and then the blouse which I had just so carefully pressed was all wrinkled.  It just slipped over my head, what's going on?  I checked the measurements of Mimie she was 2" bigger than me at the hips and bust and 3" smaller at the waist.  I've dialed down the bust and hips and padded the waist out so that she's more like me.  I remember when I bought her I wanted to be able to easily adjust since I was losing weight and planning on losing more.  It's very nice to know that I've really lost weight.  smug

Also, I cut a medium and it's really good across the shoulders and waist, but a smidge tight across the hips.  I can't see it in the mirror but it feels close when I tried on the blouse.  So I'll be adding just a little more ease in the hips.

Bev - your top looks great.  I may try the bias trim on the next one I make, however, I was very happy with the way the top looked - - - on Trixie!!  Actually it's  quite wearable for me also but will be better with the changes.

I was in Winner - waaay back in the early 70's - My husband delivered a mobile home up there!!  Congrats on the weight loss - I'm still struggling!

I am determined to finish the Flow pattern before Puyallup.  I get so nervous clipping to the "seam line, turning so neither side is favored, and then edge stitching"  As a result, I only sew a little while before returning to the garment.  It will be great, but definitely not for beginners.  And if you are making it, use very lt wt fabric.  You are going through layers of fabric in the back neck.  But the directions are good, need lots of reading and then go step by step.  Back to work but I have reached side 6!  Kaaren

Hey

We want a Report when you get back from your visit at your expo In Puyallup I went to that one a few years back  wow what a great show !! Hope you have a great time >
I've been in a sewing slump but I am back in my sewing chair I am looking forward to next week !!!! See ya soon

Marcia and Bev, I want to say much I like all of your tops.   I really like how you used the fabric and placed the designs.   You're both very creative.

I haven't been online since yesterday and just took off my hiking boots and other outdoor garb after returning from a trip to the Coweeta Hydrologic Laboratory/Research Station in the UDA Forest Service Coweeta Experimental forest, a long drive to the west of here, almost to the GA line.   Not a place for Cutting Line Designs outfits.

Am looking forward to seeing my skinny friend Alice and the rest of you who are coming to Atlanta next week.   I also hope to hear how wonderful Puyallup is.

The new P&S pattern when Terri first modeled the outfit came with a really great obi belt.  I see that this is not part of the pattern now that it's in print.  Did I read your post wrong Terri, or was it changed from it was in the development stage?

ReAnn,  Louise was selling the Obi tie as a separate pattern at the Oct workshop.   These are photos I took of it.    I'm not sure if it's on her website but she'll probably have it at all the shows.

Peach denim - - sounds wonderful and springy!!  I cut out another P&S top and Ebb blouse.  I'm "thinking" about using some embroidered ultra suede to make the ABO jacket.  I have the pattern laid out on the fabric on my cutting table so I can think about it for a while.  Also I don't like long sleeves - - soo think I might 'narrow' the sleeves a bit so I could 'push up' to wear.  Any comments, suggestions, etc??

Alice you are going to be the best dressed at the Atlanta Sewing Expo for sure.  That skirt silhouette is so figure flattering.   The Peruvian Connection and other high end catalog stores always feature that style in interesting fabrics every year for big $$$.    Aren't you glad you sew!

Marcia,  The ABO in embroidered ultra suede sounds great.   Have you made the jacket before?   Just asking so you're happy with the sizing before cutting into the US.   You could also compare the sleeve to jackets in your wardrobe that you like and alter accordingly.     For inspiration, and another well dressed attendee -  here are a couple of photos of a wearable art jacket from last years' Atlanta Sewing Expo.    I snapped the photos because it's the ABO with a five or six inch contrast band attached to the fronts, the bottom and the sleeves with the vent at the sides instead of the center back.   That's Louise on her right.

Congratulations, Alice. We'd love to see pics. if you have time to post some.

Marciae, you are really sewing along. I can't even keep up with all you're making, but you always make nice garments. I remember how fast you are when making jeans, especially.

I've made 3 of the ABO's and wear them alot - sort of like a sweater.  I don't have many long sleeved tops so if the weather is cool I always have on a "jacket" of some style!  To took my Mother to the ranch for a few days - a friend joined us.  Commented on wanting to do the US like "this jacket I have on".  My Mother said - honey that jacket doesn't fit - look where the shoulders are and the big wrinkle at the back of the arms!! Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes  Anyway our friend thought it would look "terrific".  I'm planning on narrowing the sleeve bottom width like the way Louise has said to do one of the other tops (can't remember which one!).  Terri thanks for posting the other jackets.  Don't remember seeing them before.

Have you thought of making it 3/4 length sleeves since you do not like long sleeves.   In stead of pushing them up. but pushing sleeves up is suppose to help you look thinner I 've been told . I  Always have issue with long sleeves because I am tall that is way I sew for my self

I'm wearing my Ebb blouse/top this morning - however, it seems like I "might" need to go to a small across the neck and shoulders then to the med under arm.  I just looked thru Terri's album and mine looks the same on me as hers does on her.  Maybe I've been wearing to many T type tops?  I've cut off the ends of the shoulder pads as much as I can and they are still slightly visable.  I have an Ebb cut out and I could go to the small.  Will have to think about this for a bit this morn.  Have to take my mother to Physical therapy so will have plenty of time to 'think'.
