Does anyone know about how long it takes to receive a Jalie pattern which is ordered from the site?  Mine was shipped 2 weeks ago and I still do not have it?  Is this normal for Jalie or should I have it by now?  Am I being impatient? Grin

TIA, Stash

The mail from (and to ) Canada can be slow, Stash. Plus, Jalie is in the Montreal area, and you are clear across the country. I would give it another week at least before I inquired of Jalie.

I think they have to make the pattern up in Customs, Stash, before they can agree to send it through.  Wink

I hesitate to purchase from Canadian sources because of Customs.  Everything has to go into Customs, but they don't have to ever release it!  I learned that the hard way.  This should be read as a criticism of US Customs, not my Canadian neighbors and friends.

Yes, Martha, you are so right.  It is US customs which slows everything.  I have a friend above the border from Michigan and when I mail her things, I send it to a friend of hers in Michigan.  It takes forever for things to reach her in Canada and VV.  She says it's the pits at the border now too, since 9/11.

Does anybody have a good US source for Jalie patterns?  That would probably be my solution for the future?

Sometimes mine arrive quickly, other times they take *forever*.  I think my last order took about 3 weeks.  But, you just can't beat their buy-3-get-one-free deal!

I've never had a problem with slow deliveries when I've bought from them. In fact, I ordered all four of the new patterns, and they shipped today! The original ship date was supposed to be March 24. Yay!

Ann,

Mine shipped on time too.  But, they have been IN TRANSIT for 2 weeks.  I will see if I can buy at PR next time.

Yes, according to my Canadian friends, it is US Customs that slows things up.

My pattern came today.  Yay!!  Oh my....not complaining, but my tiny little apt is running out of storage room.  A lot has to do with the fact that nothing is the same size?  I don't want to fold this pattern in half but may have to.  I take it you go online to get more info about the pattern?  My BWOF came today too..more Yay!!  More storage problems.  hehehehe  I spent all day organizing my stash.  And vowed not to buy even one length of fabric!!

funny story about not buying more of what you've already got.
a few months back, the mister got a fairly large, odd-shaped package in the mail which he promptly whisked upstairs to his man-room in the attic.  I figured it must be a gift since it was near the holidays but I didn't get any gifts that size or shape so I was confused.  I asked him what had been in the package, and he said I would be upset if he told me.
We don't share finances and he pays his share of the bills so I was a bit puzzled.  Turns out he had misunderstood a comment I made months and months ago.  He asked me if I had too much fabric, and I asked him if he had too many swords (he collects movie props).  He took that to mean he should stop buying swords, when I meant he should stop hassling me about my fabric.  Silly man.

I think the customs issue goes both ways in all fairness.

When I purchase items from the States, the Canadian customs will play roulette with whether or not they decide to open my pkg and then charge me tax.
Drives me batty - particularly when the product comes from a fabric mill or such.  I get that there are lots of sneaky folks in the world but they have been in their business long enough to have a clue.

And like I'm not paying enough in exchange, the government feels that they should take a piece out of me for something that was not produced or manufactured in house?  Why do they get a cut?

...  That comment sounds like it came from our house.  I always say I have enough fabric and yarn when he has enough fishing and hunting supplies.  We too have seprate checking accounts and we've been married 33 years.  It just saves a lot of arguments.  He knows how much he can spend because he sees it on his checking account bottom line.

Stash the instructions are printed on the pattern sheet.

You can also go online to their website and print out the instructions on a separate sheet, which I find handier since the pattern sheet is so big - but they are on there!
