Yes - Stash they do! And I own quite a bit of that designer wool/stretch - it just works for my wardrobing needs!

FYI - Fabric.com just stocked their 1.98 clearance section. There is some wool/Lycra suiting in there, as well as some silk chiffon, everything left from the Vera Lavender collection, and lots of other goodies!
I'm probably going to kick myself for not placing an order before spreading the word, but I'm trying to be good and not buy without a plan.
(Edited to change order of sentences, that might have caused confusion)

I have a credit at Fabric dot com and was going to get some denim. How do you tell what color it is? They have quite a few and in the regular denim, the colors are so much alike that you can't tell one color from the other? They all look the same on my monitor?
Also, there is medium weight and heavy weight. I am tempted to get heavy weight because some of the fabrics I have ordered are sort of flimsier than I was imagining when I ordered. Oy... But, I don't want to make pants for a cold warehouse??
Can somebody recommend some bottom weight fabric for pants for Spring that I could find on this site?
TIA

I'm pretty sure they do swatches.
And some of the fabrics list the oz per yard (and there's a tutorial on the site about denim weight)
Also, I've had excellent luck using their chat feature - the person I "spoke" to was very obliging about checking out and describing the fabric I was asking about.

They charge about $1.50 for a swatch, but I'll bet you can chat or call and they would be very helpful.

I've ordered a boxful of the rayon jersey in yummy colors and also took a chance on the hemp cotton blend for spring tops and bottoms. Wish me luck!

I called them and ended up ordering stretch cotton twill. She said they had good reviews on it and it was not very expensive, especially after my credit was applied. And no shipping fee because they applied the credit AFTER I reached the free shipping level. They are so nice there and some of the things I have purchased have been very nice. A few misses, but not that many. And, if you have an eagle eye like Carolyn to post about fab ones, you score.

I ordered rayon jersey that should arrive today - I am giddy with excitement!!
I took a chance on the $2.95 a yard in bright colors and am hoping it will be good for summer tops.

My box arrived today and I'm very pleased with my choices.
White jersey is a must for me for summer to make tops - ordered the 95% rayon/5% lycra at $4.98 a yard. It's perfect - just the right weight and thin. Not *too* thin but with a cami underneath, it will be fabulous!
I ordered 4 other pieces of the 45% rayon/45% polyester/10% lycra at $2.49 a yard and to my eye it is very close in weight and texture to the $4.98 a yard fabric. It is thin also, but that is
exactly
what I wanted. All the yardage will be washed up and used fairly quickly.
Free shipping, a discount code and E-bates dollars for the order - can't ask for anything better than that!

Well I was in need of some retail therapy (see the dogs 2 thread in the chat section) so I gave in and placed an order.
I ordered some jerseys, a knit and some linen blend fabric, and with the discount coupon the order total was very reasonable. The shipping was a bit steep to Aus but all things considered I think I would have paid more for the same amount of fabric if I purchased it here, if I could find it. I have no idea how long shipping will take but it will be great when it gets here.
I have not ordered from them before so I am unsure what the quality is like and although it's too late for this order (where I went on looks alone) I would appreciate some guidance. Are there any fabrics from fabric.com that you have not been happy with or would not order again, and which do you think are the best buys?

Ive placed a few HUGE orders from them in the last month...Ive been overall happy with them all... one of the suitings was a lil thinner than I expected but definitely usable
the only issue Ive had was some of the fabrics were not quite the color as the picture online.... there was a green brocade that turned out to be a lil more teal than the kelly green pictured... I was actually pleased witht hat....
There was a navy blue suiting that looks black no matter what I put it up to compare with....
The customer service is wonderful... and the prices very reasonable so Ive not sent anything back....

I've ordered quite a bit from fabric.com over the years, and found both the quality and the service superb--until Amazon purchased them a year or two ago. Things are still pretty good, but now I occasionally get fabrics that are simply wrong (like a shiny green woven organza that's labeled a red knit. Really). Just a week ago, I got some very nice bamboo/cotton knits, but one of the pieces had three enormous gashes on the fold line, right in the middle of the length, and another piece was a full half yard short. I emailed about the problem, and their customer service remains generally good, so I'm sure I'll either get a replacement or credit for the order.
PS: In fact, I emailed them Saturday about the problem, and just now got an email from them saying that my replacement order was on its way. Pretty nice!

Thanks girls, it's always good to hear of other peoples experiences. Buying over the Internet and especially from the other side of the world can be a bit of a minefield.

I order from Fabric.com all the time (we have an employee lurking here sometimes) and the only thing I caution you about is that sometimes the fabric is more lightweight than I expected. Although I think it's because I don't always read the description as carefully as I should!

Thanks for that Carole. I am guilty of not spending a great deal of time reading the details either, I should pay more attention when I am looking at fabrics.

I received an email overnight explaining that two of the fabrics I ordered were only available in shorter cuts, which wasn't what I wanted, so I have chosen substitutes and hope they will be on their way soon.
Edit: The parcel left the USA on Feb 10th and it landed in Australia this morning Feb 12th. It looks like it has already cleared customs in Sydney and is now on it's way to me. I doubt it will arrive today but it is looking good for Monday.

My parcel has arrived! It was sent on the 10th and arrived today, which I think is pretty darn good. It would have been here even faster if it had not sat in Mascot (Sydney) for two days over the weekend or in Brisbane for one day waiting to be sent up the coast, the actual travelling time for the parcel was 3 days. Not bad at all.
Now on to the fabrics. They are all as they looked online apart from the green knit which is a slightly different shade, but I like it so that's Ok, and the fabrics all feel really good. Oh, and with two $5 vouchers included as well I am a very happy shopper. I have firm plans for a couple of them but the others might just go into the stash until the right pattern comes along.

Carole I think I would be broke if I had it too close, although a little closer would be nice. I've been looking at some of their tropical weight wool but really need to start using the stash before I add much more to it.

I think it's amazing that you got your purchase from fabric.com all the way to Australia in 5 days. I live in the US, (across the country, but still) and it takes me 5 business days to get my purchases from fabric.com. It's a long drive across Texas.

Yes i was really surprised just how fast it was, and considering it sat in various places for almost three days the actual travelling time for the parcel was just over two days. I can see why the shipping costs are high (just over $68) when you get that kind of service.

Debbie, yes I'm going broke saving money with Fabric.com. Here's my latest delivery:
Everything except the printed linen in the center is from my favorite online source. The linen blend at the top of the printed linen I bought hoping to make pants to match a jacket for the print. I think I did well. I confess I don't normally buy so much at once, but these are for my SWAP. Everything else is a knit and pretty good quality, I think.

I buy to much from F.C as well. Stocked up on some summer knits from the 30% off sale and found some online coupon codes that I used as well. I'm having this fabric be delivered. I'm in Atlanta also and it still takes the USPS several days to go across town.
Carol, I'm liking your fabrics. The printed linen would work well for me, I think.

I noticed that Fabric.com has some nice looking linens in stock right now and I was wondering if anyone has anything good or bad to say about any of it. If there is one you particularly like or don't like, it would help me in choosing. TIA!

I've been buying from fabric.com for years now - not so much for garments but lots of quilting and home dec fabrics. I have an account but long ago asked them to stop sending me emails. Anyway, I was trying to figure out what color a print was from an old order, and checked my account information . . . so silly me I never realized I was accumulating "frequent buyer" points all these years.
I suppose it adds up slowly, one quilt at a time, but i had enough for $25 off an order. So I got out of a dreaded trip to Joann's by stocking up on Guterman thread and Schmetz needles - ordered $35 worth to get free shipping.
I feel so virtuous - saving money by buying fabric!

Has anyone purchased any of the silk velvet burnout featured on FC? Their are several listed in
clearance
at $5.24. I really think that I have to buy some yardage. I really do. Therefore, any pattern suggestions would be appreciated.

Haven't seen the burnout fabric yet, but the clearance deal was too good to pass up. In addition to being a little more than $5/yard there is an additional discount today, and I bought enough for free shipping. At the very worst I can hem it up to make scarves and give them away next Christmas.

I haven't purchased any of the silk velvet burnout but did read on another forum that some of the fabrics were more stiff than the others. I skipped out on getting those, but did buy some of the brocade that's on sale... Those pieces are very nice!

Well, I bought 3 pieces of the b/o velvet. Velvet is on my mind these few days. Saturday I came into around 65 yards of nice aged fabric. The seller had moved into quilting. Among the fabric are two nice pieces of stretch velvets and 5 yards of an eggplant-ish-y-ish-maybe-ish silk/rayon velvet. (sigh) Love holding it... I saw that extra 30% off, Threads, it was a nice bit of savings on top of the final cost. I made shawls a few Christmases ago. In velvet with a brocade lining. Out of the nine I made, I didn't end up with one. And one was a total mess in that I had scorched the velvet nap. my DF's wife scoped it up to wear around the house. I think I'll commit a piece of velvet to a shawl, but I'd like to learn how to do the macrame fringe (or is it crochet..?)
Ming, I have several favorites in the clearance brocades. I'm going to check back in a week or so and see what's left.

I have to confess: I've been buying the burnout velvets. I must have done 4 orders ever since they started discounting them. I love them all. The only "stiff" ones are the ones with the crinkly background. I haven't hand washed any of them, but they might soften up. Please buy up the velvet burnouts or I may have to get some more.

Ah, Hellene, I knew the number of pieces of velvet had dropped dramatically over the last couple of weeks. So, If I need a piece I can look you up? There was a crinkled piece I wondered how it would work up. I passed it by this time. I checked your blog(s) out again and noticed this time that you're in Atlanta. Same here. I live outside the perimeter. Love your artwork.
