Yes I am! Sew Incredibles NG. AND live too close to Fabric.com so I can run over and pick up my fabric. Instant gratification!
Trying not to look at their site too much after the last 4 major orders - mostly the burnout velvet.

I just want to put my 2 cents in for Fabric.com.  Years ago, I thought their quality of goods was so-so, but I think they have been working to improve it over the years.  I just ordered their handkerchief linen, some light-medium weight twill and some striped shirting.  All three pieces were excellent quality, the service was super and the prices were definitely right.  What more could one want?

I recvd the b/o silk/rayon velvet yesterday.  I'm really happy with the quality of the fabric.  One piece does coordinate well with the velvet yardage I already mentioned.  (I was in hog heaven yesterday afternoon.  A Fabricmart order was delivered at the same time!)  Sergerqueen, I keep looking at the handkerchief linen.

And if you didn't know this - they are selling the bemberg rayon lining for $6.98 a yard.  I have been stocking up on 10 yard pieces since the beginning of the year.  I normally cart this home from the garment district in NYC and it can be a little heavy especially if I buy more than one color.  My last order of linings from them (quite a bit of colors) came rolled on tubes...so I just threw them in an old but clean kitchen trash can that I had hanging around and now I can see most of my lining colors at a quick glance.  Also, I learned this from patternreview, but always check retailmenot (the coupon site) for % off coupons.  I never place an order now without using a coupon and the free shipping.

Hellenne - I looked at the burn out velvets several times...okay I was stalking them and almost bought some when they were $5.24 with the 30% off but realized that they would just sit in the collection and not get used.  It's nice to know they found a good home!  Grin

My Fabric.com order just came in, and I bought some of the hanky linen, too.  Wow, I am really quite impressed with the quality, especially for the price.   I'm going to order more.

Carolyn, that's good advice. I didn't realize that retailmenot carried % off coupons for fabric sites as well.

Did you see on another topic that JoAnn Fabrics is selling bemberg for $3 a yard (as I recall)? Someone mentioned that it can be ordered online, but I only found it online there for $8.99 a yard. I may be missing something, though.

Kathryn, the $3 Joanne Bemberg must have been a fluke or something.  Sale price not found at my local Joanne's.  I was just over at Sawyer Brook and they're having a lining sale.. some Ambiance and Hang Loose.   I haven't bought anything from SB before.  There look to be some nice pieces.

Sawyer Brook has some fabulous stuff, Laura. Have fun shopping on their site.

I have visited their bricks 'n mortar store several times and each visit garnered gorgeous fabrics.

For the cheapie Ambiance at Jo Ann's, you have to look in their red dot clearance section. Don't know about online.
But discovering new sources is always good...right?

Will be ckg. Joann's this weekend for that bemberg, that's how I got a bolt of black, it was a store closing though.

Re: retailmenot - don't recall how I found it but I never buy anything online from a  major vendor without checking there. And I found that a couple who have asked that their coupons not be posted (retailmenot will post that as your search result) still have coupon codes "out there" -- I just google something like acme fashion coupon code and (not from Acme!!) have gotten 30%, free shipping, and deferred billing from a merchant all on same order  Cheesy

Fabric.com has really improved recently!  I have ordered from them before and it was hit or miss.  The quality is now unbelievable, and I live for the daily specials.  Recently, I got several pieces, one of which is this one:

I plan to make a skirt.  I also got a stretch cotton poplin of black and white floral design they have now sold out of.  I want to make a summer dress for it.

This is quickly becoming my go to place for fabric!

From what I understand Joann's was clearing out some of what they considered unusual colors - camel, sand, fluff. These are all neutral colors so I don't understand what is unusual about them. Anyway they are found in the red dot clearance section marked at $2 - $3 per yard. If you catch them on a 50% off red dot clearance sale, you really get a deal. They are the real thing. Same camel color and fabric I purchased at The Sewing Place for $6.98 a yard.

Alice, that is fast!  I think my last order was about as quick.  What did you order?

Do they still have warehouse sales at Fabric.com?  I went one time and it was well worth the trip to Atlanta.  I had fallen off the e-mail list, but now that I am back on, maybe I'll hear more about it.  I would love a day trip to Atlanta to shop at the warehouse and go to Gail K's.

Alice, that's faster than going to the warehouse to pick up!  It can take quite some time for someone to come out once you ring the bell.  I pretty  much just go in now and go behind the desk and get my box.  Carolyn, I don't think they're doing warehouse sales anymore.  I was at the last one and asked about how often they have the sales (it was my first warehouse sale) and was told no more.  If you come down to Atlanta holler out.

I do not think they open their doors for the public, since they are now part of Amazon.com Yes I would love a day trip to Atlanta to Gailk maybe we should think about that for fall fabric !

Carolyn, that is good to know.  I haven't ordered from them in five or six years because I got a couple of bad cuts - snagged flannel backed satin and and I forgot the other one, but maybe I will give them another try.

I like your tulip fabric - great colors!

Okay, it has to be me when the rest of you love Fabric.com.  Why do I find it so hard and complicated to find the fabric I'm looking for on that site - or even the fabric like Debra just posted?  I see these little boxes with 5-6 different colors or prints and my mind blurs.  When I click on them, I don't really find what I thought I would find.  Debra - where did you find your lovely print?  Under what heading?  Shams, you were saying your bought some 'designer' silk/linen/cotton but the only 'designer' fabrics i seem to find are quilt fabric designers.  ARGH.  I know there are days when my mind just doesn't work and all this gray hair is certainly not adding to my mental acuity, but will someone please tell me the easiest way to navigate this site?

ReAnn,

It was actually me that posted the tulip fabric.  Debra was just quoting me.  I found it on sale in their e-mail along with a wonderful black and white print that is no longer available.  Must have sold out quick.  The tulip fabric can now be found clicking on apparel fabric, then stretch fabric and lycra fabric, then under Printed Stretch Cotton Poplin Fabric..

I just go to the categories and go from there.  For instance, I wanted a linen with some lycra and clicked on linen.  It brought up the different categories.

Hope that helped.

Well Carolyn, your advice only cost me $50!  Did manage to wander around their site enough to find your fabric and several more I just 'had to have!'  Then I remembered that someone somewhere had set a link for online coupons, Fabric.com included, and found one that saved me 20%!  And I spent enough for free shipping.

Happy, Happy!  Hope I'll be that way when it arrives.

Just a heads up to check your orders...I have ordered too much from fabric.com recently Evil but I have never had problems until this last two orders.  One they sent me the totally wrong fabric, they sent a replacement with a polite apology.  Then on a backordered item they sent another unrelated item, but it had my sticker on it.  They had UPS come and pick it up, and resent the fabric I wanted.  Once again, no problem.  Then on my last order all the pieces (all my pieces were over 8 yards) were shorted by 1/2-1 yard.  I will phone them in the morning.  The fabrics were cheap, so I am only out a dollar or two, but sometimes I don't measure, and then when you pull the fabric out thinking you have more than you do....Just a heads up to make sure you measure your order.

ReAnn, I'm just now seeing the comment you posted on May 14th, with the question directed to me.

Actually, I get frustrated by the fabric.com site.  I find it hard to find fabrics, hard to find what I want, hard to navigate.  I've only ordered from them a couple times and the quality was cheap - I was really disappointed and consigned the fabric to muslins.  They did send me the wrong fabric once (it had the wrong sticker on it but the selvedge clearly showed a Benartex quilting fabric) and it took a couple calls to straighten it out (they ignored my emails), but they told me to keep the original fabric and speedily got the fabric I ordered to me, so I was satisfied by the customer service, once I reached the right person. Though, to be honest, I was disappointed in the quality of new fabric too.  Their prices are dirt cheap, which is what attracted me to them originally, but the quality was definitely reflective of the prices.

So, I haven't had much luck with fabrics from fabric.com, though it could just be my poor choices.  I don't know.  They seem nice and are perhaps just overwhelmed with orders.  And I guess I am just missing the "good stuff" on the site.  Smiley

I am in love with fabricmart.com.  That's where I got the Dana Buchman rayon/linen/silk I used for my Trio pants.  I have to stay away from fabricmart.com or I might order every day.  Wink  I am usually pleased by the quality and they have some really interesting fabrics, for good prices.  In fact, I just joined Julie's Picks.

Oh, lord help me.  Smiley

I have been impressed with the quality latetly.  I am trying not to buy for awhile so I can sew some things up!  I think I have plenty to keep me busy for summer.  I'm really trying hard to hold off until fall fabrics come out.  We'll see how long I last.....
