Found: a favorite silver bracelet that I hadn't seen for a while.  On its four quarters it says "Welcome Introspection; Accept Wisdom; Seek Illumination; Embrace Innocence."   It's like a "magic 8-ball" on the wrist...

Syndi - all is forgiven! Sometimes I too get so wrapped up in something I can't see the wood for the trees. Hope it all works out anyway. Love your blouse fabrics - very luxurious.

Forgive? Forgive what?  :D Syndi, we have a saying here: What happens in Discussion One, Stays in Discussion One. Oh, OK, fine, I just made that up.

But we will take the chocolate! :-*

Rene,

Thanks for taking care of that.  I am just now getting back here to read about the injustice of it all!   >:D

Hmm, I really can't do chocolate kisses, but okay, just this once!

Syndi! Looking good your pockets. Well done.

Today I finished a pair of trousers. It's hard to take photos on trousers when you're not wearing them either. You find them here http://artisanssquare.com/sg/index.php/topic,19754.0.html

Ruth, love the Chanel jacket. Mulliga, the trousers look great. Syndi, wonderful welt pocket. I don't know which is more fun - seeing everyone's SWAP projects or working on my own.
LOL.

Finished cutting out a blouse today and hope to put my storyboard together this next week. I know it's not necessary, but they just look cool.

I finished my first mock up for my swap, and it was a total dud.  Not the fault of the pattern (fabulous drafting!) but it was in no way flattering for my body shape.  This changes my swap plan a huge amount, so I am going to have to rethink my ideas.

To console myself, I muslined the dress from the new Alabama chanin book--and it was way better.  In fact, i have to change what i am making so that i can include this dress in some way in my swap.  So, no dropped shoulder, dolman styles for me; we must have shaped and body skimming to make it work,  since half the current plan is dolman sleeve, cowl neck, I must rethink.

Syndi - glad the question with the darts was solved - it does look good with the welt going across the darts! And, as you found out, one can't shorten darts a good bit, because then the extra fabric that is "released" by the dart turns up where there is no "bump"/ no extra needed. Your welt pockets are going great. I've done them before in a pant, but fear them also so that I've never done them again. So much for your great abilities!
Ruth - what a stunning jacket! You look soo good in it!
Malin/mulligan: Wow, you are speeding along! I really like your garments, they come together to such cute outfits (skirt plus dotted shirt is my favourite so far!). Keep going!

Today, I plan to sit down with a mug of something yummy and look through all the individual threads to see what everyone is up to.  I have completed two tops, a dress, and am almost finished with another top.  This isn't terribly impressive since I seem to have knocked out all my easiest garments first.  Still to go is a jacket, three pairs of pants and and two more tops.   :-\

Sounds like a good start, Jenny Anne.  Everyone starts with something different; I too, had started with 2 easier tops, although one difficult dress before the SWAP rules and one difficult shirt during December.  Have fun planning.  :)

Morzel- Thank you.....I think now that I've done them several times, it does get easier. They are in an acceptable position, but I think I will lower them on my second pant though, as the rise isn't the same as the RTW pant I measured.  I also think I would make the welts a bit wider, by stitching in closer to the fold line.
I had posted a question about putting a lining behind my black lace.  I went with the tan and after basting the lining on the lace, realized that it looked off next to the base fabric  I've re-cut the base fabric, a steel gray with embroidered dots, and it does look better, as it matches the base fabric and still allows to show the lace nicely.  I plan on sewing the yokes in today.......

There are so many lovely garments here.

Love your dress, Licarrit  :)

Your top is so nice Annika. Sorry about the hole but that happens to everyone or at least to me  ;)

Ruth F Thanks. Do put on your skates  and you will soon catch up with me because I'm a terrible skater  ;D

Morzel Thanks I've been sewing a lot last couple of days because I know when I start teaching again next week there will be less time left doing so.

Licarrit-- Fabulous dress!!  What type of fabric?  And
Annika- your top is really nice!  What pattern is that?....I really like the lines....
Hole?  What hole?  ;)

Ruth.... ;D  Thank you.....

I basted my base fabric behind the lace for my yokes and stitched them on to the shirt... ;D
This is the result:

Looks like I missed the line of dots on the one side.   ::)

Now I think I have to start dismantling my Christmas tree....

Syndi I think it looks nice  :)

For the last two hours I've been fiddling with the neckline on my silk top. It really looked awful  :( so I rethought and changed the pattern in order to save the top. Now I' m content with the result. There won't be any photos today because it's way to dark now. Maybe tomorrow  :)

Annika, As much as I like the idea of being Superwoman, I like the idea of being a super villain better! Face it they always have more fun!
Thanks everyone for the compliments.

The dress is out of a Raw Silk tweed with black, grey, and white as the background and then over embroidered with a broken navy blue herringbone. I bought it from Fabricmart a couple of years ago for 1.99 a yard and bought @10 yards. So far I have a flight jacket and a skirt also made out of it besides the dress and still have another almost 2 yards. It goes with my entire wardrobe. The bright boucle version of the dress is now 50% done. The colors of the fabric make me happy but this fabric is ravel-ly like crazy!

Ruth, that is my stash and that is post purge! And the leather is somewhere else. Dress two needs lining, zipper, hem and it is done.  I have been assured I do not look like a couch in it. Always a good thing.

xtiand-- very nice plan...love your colors, fabrics and patterns.  I'd be interested to know how the placket is constructed in your Vogue shirt; although is that pattern (8689) correct?  I have 8689 and am using it for this SWAP, it's the pattern you have on your board for the purple shirt.   I have been searching for a good method.
tanya- nice plan too....I like the  patterns you chose.

I have been busy sewing as well and finished off 4 pieces - 3 of which are keepers!  Just to put you in the picture, my collection is called 'Taking Care of Business' and comprises of business wear.  Firstly, here is my grey 2 piece dress made from an Aztec sweater print from fabric.com.  The top was based upon Kwik Sew 3752 and the pull-on skirt from Simplicity 4221.

The headless shot is because I was taking photos on the camera timer and some of facial expressions are not fit for human viewing!!

The second, and the non-keeper is the grey skirt (Butterick 4877) in this photo:

I think that this skirt is rather unflattering.  As much as I love skirts with a flounce, I don't think that this one does me any favors.  I will look at re-fashioning it as it is made out of fabric given to me by my mother, but for now, I am not including it in the collection.  On the bright side I did lengthen the yoke from the pattern (Butterick 4877) and made a great fitting straight skirt that I pegged at the hem.  It is made out of black corduroy (I am a corduroy fan and proud!!).  Both skirts are lined.  It is seen here with a wearable muslin Sorbetto (from Collette):

Next up are some more Sorbettos - and more planning of my collection.

More details can be seen on my blog! http://spottydogsocialclub.blogspot.ca/2013/01/tkob-first-pieces.html

Syndi, I wasn't sure what you meant at first then looked carefully at the storyboard and realised I have managed to delete the bottom of the button band on the ecru shirt, it should look the same as the purple one! However I must admit to liking how it looks and i do have an old Vogue pattern (1970's) with a similar placket so I could make it that way. I can send you a copy of the old Vogue pattern instructions if you would like them. I like your SWAP plans too, we have chosen some similar colours! I love looking at everyone's plans, they are so inspiring! I've almost finished my grey jacket -just got to set in the sleeves, and I cut out the skirt and two different underskirts (one for the suit skirt and one for the black skirt) this morning. The grey/purple wool crepe arrived, it is in two pieces - a bargain from the remnant bin of a lovely online cloth shop so I need to measure some patterns to see what will fit onto the pieces. I made two new dog toys from the scraps of the boiled wool after I'd cut out the skirt, I made long knotted ropes that the dogs can chew and wave about - being felted/boiled wool the fabric is strong and will keep them occupied while I sew!
