I have been thinking about SWAP since the rules were posted and found my inspiration from fabric in my stash, purchased in 2012 from Knitwit, an Australian company.

It has so many colours in it and my first garment is my dress in CCL's Dress Challenge which was finished minutes before midnight on 28 October, 2018.

Now crayquliter and treefrog how did you get your inspiration colours so well set out.

Sharon, glad to hear you are SWAPping.  I'm looking forward to seeing your plan.

For the colours I used ColorSnap and then did a bit of editing in PaintShop.

It’s lovely to see more people ‘joining in’.

But do remember there is no obligation in the rules to post anything before April 30 about whether you are entering or what you are planning to do.
There is no requirement to talk about what you are doing in a personal thread (though the rest of us love to see them).
Some people like to make a specific plan beforehand and then follow it.
Some people like to work in a free way and only decide during photo-taking time what will actually be part of their contest submission.
(and of course there are people like me who love the stimulus of the planning stage but never get a complete SWAP completed  ;D)

It’s entirely up to you and how you like to sew / plan/ decide.
Does this bring you joy, calm, confidence  :D  if not, try something else.

Treefrog and Sharon, so glad you are joining! I love your inspiration fabrics!

I have taken a week's vacation, so have lots of time to get started on SWAP. This weekend I'll pull what I can from stash and get started matching fabric to pattern. Wild card is done, as like Sharon I've used CCLs dress challenge to my double advantage  :D

I'm really excited about this SWAP! I've got some new-to-me fabrics and patterns planned. When I iron them out this weekend I'll post the deets in my thread.

Coat hemmed (bagged lining) and the sleeve lining opening stitched up. Coat now having a little rest on Doris the Dressform.
I'll probably do a photo in the new year of me wearing it, once I've sewn some of the SWAP pieces which work with it.

Ruthie, so glad you finished the coat! That must feel good to have completed.

Boppingbeth, I'm also enjoying your inspiration thought process. Looking forward to seeing your creations!

I'm sitting on the sidelines enjoying the SWAP process vicariously--the endless colorways as inspiration, the ideas and "process".

Boppingbeth-thank you for the EF analysis. I've been half aware of EF--I've always liked her clean spare design "look" but never really understood why I liked it nor taken the time to analyze the details in the relationships between the garments.   I've never thought how she makes it cohesive, to piece together the long tank/short tank concept with the quirky, shorter third layer over the top and then how those play over the bottoms. You've done it for me! Thank you!

I suspect we all have patterns in our sewing experience that can duplicate the design lines but I do appreciate you walking us through your pattern selection.

Operating within limits of an idea will be fun to watch. Copying a designer's look will be most instructive. Look forward to seeing the outcomes...

Ruthie, I'm glad that you finished your coat. I just read a comment that teal was going to be a big color for 2019. That would explain why I was seeing a lot of teal in different places.

Boppingbeth - I enjoyed reading your EF analysis. I like her clean lines and cohesiveness. The garments are simple and allow the fabric to be the star of the show.  Tank tops and tank dresses are a big part of my summer wardrobe. There will be at least one or two tanks in the collection. I'll make a couple of tank dresses as my extra garments.

My plans from now to mid-January are to work on patterns. First up is to sew a second muslin for a woven top.  Spend 10 minutes doing a full abdomen adjustment for my TNT pants patterns. They fit great when I'm standing but are tight when I sit down. One pattern is done and I need to fix the second pattern.  Next on the agenda is to fit a jacket pattern. I'll pick out some fabrics and start pre-treating them. I want to be ready to start sewing by mid-January if not sooner.

Wow. Boppingbeth your analysis of EF's looks is really inspiring. Thank you for including links to patterns too, b/c I would never have thought to look for patterns for pirates!

Boppingbeth - Peggy S. did a webcast May 18 on the great 8 from Eileen F - she shows which of her patterns to use and how they look made up.

Cool!  I hadn't watched that show.

The advantage of the 'basic 8' is that they are the background to all the icing pieces.

So whilst still a little confused on the colours/prints counting I think I have a legal plan, so will stop over analysing and see what I want to sew.

I probably will slightly over sew the number of pieces and then choose a subset for the final SWAP.
This has often worked for me in the past.

If my love for teal overwhelms too much I will switch to Neutrals of Dark Teal and Ink Blue with Accents of Stone and Rose.
In fact I like the idea of that a great deal and will probably explore it further.

Ruthie, I think that is a great approach.  And teal is a good neutral!
