Woo hoo!  After much sewing and much more planning, the dress is done!

You can read all about the construction saga on The Sewing Divas.

Next up?  Something easy!

I am proud to say that I was there when Kashi convinced Ann that she needed this fabric...but none of us (Barbara & Ann's friend) could have predicted that this amazing garment would be the end result!  Bravo!  Bravo!  It is an amazing dress, Ann!

Thanks so much everyone!  Liana, the dress will make its non-singing debut at a dinner on the 23rd of this month in New York.  For singing, it will have to wait until April, when I have a noontime recital planned.  I want to make a sweater coat from my double faced knit next.  Or maybe a top from some wool double knit that has been aging in my stash.  Whatever it is, it won't require so much planning!

It just makes me happy to know there are people in the world capable of creating beautiful dresses like this, Ann, and to think of you singing in it -- too fabulously glamorous for words!

Ann the dress is truly remarkable.  Its all that you would see in a vogue, or Harpers Bazaar or any of the high end
magazines.

Just truly a great use of both patterns, and in a remarkable fabric.  I do hope you enjoy wearing it, and get a ton of
compliments.

Ann the dress is beautiful, and I really enjoyed reading about the process and the ultimate decisions you made, making it.
You'll be stunning in it.

An absolutely stunning dress Ann!

And it's great to see someone else extolling the advantages of hand basting and marking; the extra few minutes is worth it every time.

Beautiful dress Ann! You will be a hit in it!  Could you tell me how you did the fringe?  I did not see it in your blog...

Thanks,

Kristen, the fringe was already on the fabric.  It was a "border print", if you want to think of it that way.  It made my life easy.  Trust me, I don't have that kind of patience!

Ann,
Absolutely gorgeous dress!!  AND you did me a big favor as DD is going to be giving her senior vocal recital in a couple months and we've been talking about what special dress she might want.  Until I showed her your creation she was completely undecided... now she/we have a direction thanks to your wonderful frock.  DD thinks the dress must be all black but I may be able to convince her to use a deep saphire blue under lining to accentuate the light airy lace.  Thank you for the inspiration you provide.  Alice
