Ah yes, the twin set.  I rmember drooling over it and indeed did buy a border print from EOS to copy yours, but the colors are a little strong for me (chocolate and lime gree) and I'm not sure about it now.

Robyn - my only thing about asking for a sample from Linda is that the fabric could be gone by the time you receive the swatch!  The fabric from the first top lasted a couple of hours on her site!  And I don't buy large quantities - I think 3 yards is alot but I understand your hesitancy because three yards can be almost $100 sometimes!!!

Carolyn, Your projects are always first class but that twin set is fantastic. I remember liking the fabric but didn't think of doing something so creative. Almost all of my t-shirt wardrobe consist of emmaonesock fabrics and since I retired that is what I usually wear.

Kathryn, the white lines on the EOS rayon knit are just part of the print.   I tried to put the border mostly at the bottom, with only a tiny bit showing around the neckline to balance it.  Because I am 5'1", I keep my tops short, so the heavy border print doesn't go around my hips.   We all understand, right?

I stabilized the shoulder seams, neck seams, and armholes with clear elastic and coverstitched the hem.

Wow, that IS a gorgeous knit, Lynda.  Knowing that it is not 3 dimensional makes it even more remarkable, because it has the illusion of 3D. 

You were very wise in your placement of that border. I really like the hint of it at the shoulder to give the hem some balance.  It's a great top.  I want it.  So now I want Carolyn's twin set and your top.  My wardrobe is looking nicer and nicer (at least in my mind)!

It goes with EVERYTHING.  Brown, black, jeans, dressy.

Lynda, I just love your top, too.  It is a perfect combination of fabric and pattern.  So designer- looking!

Martha, it does have button-holes on the outer buttons.  On the inside there is a clear button behind the inside button, and another button-hole. 
This was the coat I made from the pattern that Sarah Veblen fitted to me.  Having a pattern that fit sure did make the sewing go fast!

WOuld you please tell me why EOS is so much more expensive than let's say FashionFabricsClub.  Is the quality that much better?  I am thinking it probably is to warrent the price difference. I wouldn't mind ordering online or even paying more for quality fabric, but it bugs me to pay such high shipping costs.  Thanks for the input

I haven't ordered from FFC but I have ordered from EOS. EOS fabrics are fantastic quality and her service is top notch. I have not regretted a single $ I spent with EOS.

If you have the Pantone shopping guide color stick, that is very helpful. EOS usually puts the Pantone # in the description and since my monitor does not represent color truly, I am very hesitant to purchase from anyone online without that color #.

I think the only way to know if you really like a vendor is to give them a try, assuming you can rationalize both the purchase in view of your stash and the price.  As with most things, a fabric that appeals to one person may not appeal to another.

I have purchased a fair amount from Emmaonesock and have loved some pieces, and other pieces, not so much.  The same goes for my purchases from Fashion Fabrics Club. Actually, I have had similar experiences with most of the online retailers with whom I have dealt.  Buying fabric sight unseen and without being able to touch it opens one up to occasional disappointments.  

If you're curious about Emmaonesock, jem, perhaps you could get some swatches from her and compare them to the Fashion Fabrics Club swatches.  That way you can decide for yourself whether Emmaonesock fits your needs.

To me EmmaOneSock and FashionFabrics appeal to quite different needs and buyers.   I consider EOS to be more high end, fashion forward things.  FF is more utility fabrics.   I buy from both for different purposes.  If I want a one or two season skirt or top, I check for FF.   If I want a WOW outfit I can wear for years, I check EOS.  Yes, she is expensive, but the quality and RTW look of the fabrics is sometimes worth it.

With EOS I can rely on the quality over and over again. Her appreciation/knowledge of fabric qualities means (to me) that she is looking for what I am looking for in fabrics. So even though I am buying less than I used to due to economies (and a stash!) I always look to her first because I know I will get 'the goods'. . I can't speak to comparisons with FF fabrics -- I am interested in their offerings and will check them out. But I am 'sticking with what works' when I buy knits, especially. Here's a fun thing: when I look at my pile of fabric remnants which I somehow won't get rid of ...and hang on to... many of them are EOS knits. My most beloved sweater was an EOS (think 'baby binkie' level of adoration!) which I shall someday undo and redo into another style. Now THAT's a quality sweater knit!

I purchase from both websites, fairly regularly..with FFC I mostly purchase knit solids or sateens, or other cotton lycras. I have gotten some nice things from FFC, and some "not so nice" things. Never, ever, EVER buy their mystery bundle, what a waste of $ that was. Live and learn.

When I go to EOS, I am usually looking for something *unique*, this last purchase, I was looking for smocked fabric, since it looks like that is going to be the trend this Spring and Summer, and sure enough, Linda had a nice one I bought, and then there is always at least one other thing I MUST have The only purchases I have been not so thrilled with were a few buttermilks a few years ago, way too sheer for what I needed, but that is always a chance you take buying fabric online, sight unseen..but 95% of the time, I've been thrilled and gotten many compliments on the garments I make from EOS.

I havent' noticed EOS shipping to be more expensive than anywhere else, I think when you check out, it defaults to Priority, BUT, there is a drop down menu and you can change it to first class for a less expensive rate, unless that has changed??

Kara, I haven't ordered from EOS for a while, and I didn't go to the site and look, but you were able to choose at one time.  I think Linda called me once, about a year ago when I ordered some faux Persian lamb (still 3/4 finished) for a coat.  She thought shipping postal service was cheaper for me than UPS, which it was, but when I pointed out that the post office won't deliver to my house and therefore I must pick up at post office, so I prefer UPS (my UPS guy Rick comes to the door, come rain, sleet or snow) she got it and shipped right along.  I think shipping costs often depend on where you are and your circumstances.  Just MHO.  K

Yes, Linda at ESO will work with you to get you the best shipping! Just this past week I bought a yard of very thin silk fabric, which was a VERY small, light package that mailed for $2something...very different from another vendor who didn't even reply to an email about shipping cost for a 1-yard piece.

I do buy from FFC, and sometimes I get great stuff there, but it's a lot more hit and miss. The fabric I've gotten from EOS has always been very high quality.

As Liz says, Linda absolutely will work with you on shipping.  Anytme--anytime--the shipping costs give you a turn, give her an email about your concerns (a good idea with any vendor, btw).  I love her stuff!  Budget constraints have prevented me from buying as much as I'd like, but boy, her fabric and color info, including the Pantone numbers, are unparalleled.

And how nice to hear that the shipping charges were less than calculated at the time of your order.  That has happened to me, too, in the past, with my EOS orders.

EOS had some peach and black wool houndstooth on sale.  Someone got there before me. Who, who, who? She only has 1 1/4 yards left and I need 2. Drat. I wanted to make a coat. The moral of the story is, if you love it, grab it.

It is quite a lightweight jersey, though not sheer, and with the particular "coolness" that linen has.  It feels as though it will be very comfortable even in warmish weather.  The print is large and quite strong, and I want to show it off as unbroken as possible, so I'm thinking a simple, longish tee without a lot of detail that would just get lost in the mix.

Kathryn asked about the fabric's recovery. I checked, and 5" will easily stretch to 8" crosswise, but the recovery is not terrific, so I'm not going to go with a really body-hugging top, either (not that this body really needs body-hugging garments anyhow).

I can never make it too long without finding something at EOS - and as we all know, you have to move fast when you see it.  I'm waiting for my package to arrive this week.  In addition to some (boring but necessary) power net solids for linings, I ordered the "wavy gravy" rayon knit http://emmaonesock.com/fabrics/knitprints27600.asp and the Prada black sweater knit http://emmaonesock.com/fabrics/sweaterknits27593.asp.  Reminder to self:  you live in Florida!
