Gorgeous color! She's got it under sweater knits, although she describes it as it is, which is NOT a sweater knit but a very stable double knit.

It came in the pink, and of course it is gorgeous.

Marji, what are you making from that knit? I'm eyeing the blue, too. Gotta stay off the EOS site. She seems to be getting in some really fabulous fabrics and I promised myself a return to the moratorium in August and September, though I may stop at Sawyer Brook as I will be in Massachusetts for a couple of weeks.

Excellent choice Kaylene.   I caved in and got this elegant Treadle brown/gold brocade knit for a 3/4 length sweater coat.    I also got the gorgeous couture brown/coppery animal print Italian wool that sold out.   It's no longer on the website.   I e-mailed her about the drape and texture because I want to make that new Milano Jacket when the pattern comes out from it.    She always is very prompt to respond to requests and questions about the type of garment the fabric is suitable for.

Furthermore, my fabric arrived packed with tissue paper between the fabric folds, each fabric in a separate clear plastic bag with a sticker inside a clean box.   She always encloses the the invoice and a print-out identifying the accompany swatches I requested.  These touches make her top of the line in my book.    No wadded up fabric in garbage bags, arriving in in ripped up boxes from EOS  Grin

Bad Bad Enablers!!

I had to go look too - and I bought two roll end pieces - the zebra striped wool and the turquoise tweed.

Zebra wool will be the body of a cardigan, I have the perfect other remnant to make sleeves - at least that's what I'm thinking now ...

Turquoise will become a skirt, I believe.

Stop it! Stop it!, all of you. Evil  I cannot resist much longer.   Undecided

I am on my way out the door to spend the day at ASG Conference in Sacramento and I know I will succumb there at the Vendor Mall.

Terri, I adore that Treadle Brown Brocade. I've been eyeing it.
I too need to STAY OFF EOS.

Denise, I'm planning a dress with the pink swirl double knit. I'll let you know the pattern when I decide on which one. I'm deciding between several.

I wanted to share with you the e-mail I wrote to Linda after receiving the couture animal print suiting:

Linda,  you know I don't order kaboodles of fabric just to have them sitting around, but when I do, I always love what I get from you.

This fabric was exactly what I was looking for - weight, texture, hand everything.   It is soooo couture.    I'll feel like I'm wearing
an Oscar de la Renta original.

And the swatches - to die for.   I thought the Ann  Klein mocha-earth burnout looked a lot like what Calvin Klein used for his wool gauze
sheath dress (fall RTW collection) that's got that interesting cowl neckline that stands out/up.    Now to make up my mind before
something sells out.

I also appreciate the little touches - putting the tissue paper between the fabric fold, the neat plastic bag with sticker,  the
receipt and nicely organized swatches - you're a class act!

Did anyone buy the "Painted/printed Italian Tweed?  The first time it appeared it sold out fast, whew, I was safe.  This time I gave in.  I'd love to know what you are contemplating making.  I'd love to hear ideas what to do with it.  I am five feet and thin and very petite boned.  I can't wait to hear ideas, being bad is so much fun sometimes.

I can honestly second Terri's compliments to Linda.  I have been buying from her for over five years and I have never had a piece of fabric that wasn't better than represented.  It is  beautifully packaged and arrives with the speed of lightning.  She has gotten some very high quality goods and while they seem high priced they are very well below the market.  I took one piece that had been $75 a yd, the wool scramble, to a shop here to get lining.  The whole staff managed to wander in to feel and rave over the fabric and thought it must have been $150 a yard at least.

I trust her presentation.  I trust her pricing.  I love being able to get what I want on line.  I don't have to waste my sewing time hunting for fabric.  Hers is what she says it is and priced accordingly.  I don't want to sew fabric that is junk, I don't stash much, and do my muslins from recycled fabrics or $1 table stuff at Walmart.

Linda sets the standard for others to follow, she is honest in her descriptions and pure quality gold standard for her service and customer care.  It is such a pleasure doing business with her!

I just got a swatch of this in the mail: http://www.emmaonesock.com/fabrics/fancy15458.asp

It is TDF. Looiks like some other fabrics will take a back seat to this one. Usually I'm allergic to wool but this is incredibly soft.

I agree with your assessment, Terri. Linda is a terrific trustworthy vendor and I'm always impressed at how neatly my orders are packed.

Sandra, you have to be quick with EOS because you never know what will sell out or when. You might e-mail her and see if she has any of that fabric left - sometimes there's a yard or two that she puts into capsules or sells as roll ends. She may also be getting more in so it's good to check with her.

I'm going with the Missoni knit. But how much? I have to check through my patterns.

I got my Treadle brown/gold metallic soft brocade knit today.    I see it sold out.     I passed up on the cabled brown wool sweater knit that also sold out after getting the swatches.  It is pretty but really thin and I've got too many brown tops already.

This knit is gorgeous and better than the description.   I'll let this fabric do the talking in a simple 3/4 jacket like the lengthened By Popular Demand.  I think I want more structure than the Sweater Coat.   It works with black and many shades of brown.

Terri: I'm thinking of the Sweater Coat for that Missoni knit. I think it's the perfect weight and I know the coat fits and looks great.

Denise, I was in Nordstrom a few weeks ago and I saw that Missoni in that colorway made up in a very simple wrap type dress and can't remember the exact price, but it was $960ish or in the $1100 range.  I was doing some snoop shopping and my brain was on overload.

Yours will make a beautiful garment, so vibrant and so soft in texture.....not at all like of the knock-offs we see of it so frequently.  I purchased one of the knock-offs a few years ago from CJ and made a sweater coat and I do enjoy it however.

Hey, Martha: I only got two yards so there's plenty left for you. cheers But be forewarned if you get a swatch you will dream of this stuff until you buy some. On the other hand, two yards isn't that bad and you can get a nice sweater out if it that would cost megabucks at Nordstrom or Needless Markup.

I just received my teal wool mix doubleknit - gorgeous, but I haven't a clue what to do with it!  I'm being inundated with family next week so I have some time to think about it.  Help...  Marji?
Denise, why is it that 2 yards will make you a dramatic sweater coat and me a simple sweater  Grin

Martha, I'm thinking dress. I'm just loving all those solid dresses that are turning up in the fall magazines, and this double knit is the perfect texture for one of those.
Ideas:

and there are lots more.
I know it would also work in one of those unstructured jackets, but those are just not me. I've tried those jackets that are loose and unstructured, and I Never wear them. About as unstructured as I get is a Chanel jacket, and I don't see this knit in one of those.

Martha: because I am a little 5' shrimp and you stand tall among women.  Purple Pom-Pom On the other hand, I've never been on a horse where they didn't have to shorten my stirrups and the horse barely knew I was there anyway because my legs didn't reach over the sides. So you see, it's a trade-off. Give me another few inches on my legs and I'll gladly add a yard to my Missoni order.

marji, I like your idea of a dress.  The 4th one of your selections (the vanilla one with the front slit is especially appealing to me.) I think it would very slimming and has enough ease to wear comfortably.  Whichever you choose will be smashing, I know.

I am still eyeing the teal color for a short zippered front cardigan.....however I bought a bundle of EOS sweater knits recently when she had those bundles for ridiculoulsly low prices, so I realy don't NEED any more. nono

Joan, I'm looking at that teal sweater knit like Marji's rose knit.

Marji: I think that little yellow dress pattern (Fabiani?), the sleeveless version with the empire-type waist, would look absolutely stunning in that fabric. It's a different style that would really make the fabric shine, IMHO.

Denise, just a note - even though she's got this knit with the Sweater knits - it is in no way a sweater knit. I've draped it on my dress form so that you can get an idea of the drape. Not sweater.

she describes it as wool poly - my guess is that there is more poly than wool. There is the color swirl fabric that is then fused to a tricot backing.

It would be wonderful in any of those dresses!  I like the one with the slit up the front, too, but I would probably make the long version if I were making a dress.  As I live in Boondocks and not St. Louis, I probably don't need a dressy dress.  The blue fabric, to me, looks a lot sportier and I was sorta thinking about one of the Onion hooded jackets.  Now for the Missoni, I got onto to the track of a shorter version of whatever Denise makes but then I started thinking of a pullover sweater with a low crossover in front.  He uses a lot of diagonals in his designs and I thought that might work.  However, I'm not sure if the color is right for me.  Maybe I should order a swatch - that will give me a little bit extra  Wink !
Now, Denise, with respect to the horses, my daughter teaches riding so we have a selection of equines of all sizes.  There are a few mini's (have you tried one?), a nice pony who is great to ride, but I'm thinking of adding roller skates to my feet and my own wonderful horse, who is 17.2hh.  How are you at the splits?

hahahahaha, Martha, you're too funny. rotfl I'd need a booster seat to ride your horse. I always rode ponies but their gait is a lot choppier to me than your standard issue normal size person's mount. I don't ride anymore as I'm afraid of breaking any more bones. Yes, get a swatch of the Missoni to see if the color is right for you, but it contains so many beautiful colors I'm thinking this is one of those fabrics that you can't really go wrong with. But since it is rather on the expensive side I would recommend that you swatch it.

Marji, I see what you mean about that wool. It doesn't seem to have a lot of stretch, or am I wrong aout that? It's even more gorgeous in your photo. I can't wait to see what you'll come up with. I'll bet you could make something really Jackie O with this and the color is fabulous. Tres chic.

I just got the Missoni in. It's incredible. I'm posting a couple of photos of it here so you can get a much better idea of the colors and drape:

Wow, I love that Missoni knit!  I've been looking at it, too.  I could get some and then we'll be like Charlie's Angels!  Or the Mod Squad!

I ordered a couple swatches of coatings.  I really want a fabric with brown AND black in it.  The swatch came today and it is so deluxe.  Soooo.....

I bought this today for a winter coat.

I have 2 OOP Vogue patterns I am considering.  I am not going to sew it, though.
I am becoming a client of Sarah Veblen for this project.
It is just not realistic for me to think I'll have time to sew a winter coat on top of all the other fun stuff I want to sew.

And then I'll have a fitted pattern to use sometime in the future!
yay!

Denise, I did!  Two yards, just like you.  I'm thinking a longish loose pullover - to be defined by the fabric size.  This isn't the sort of thing you want scraps from Cheesy!  And I did it before I saw your photos.  Your Margarita Top is so cute.  I have the pattern.  I've made the Fajita skirt several times; it's a lot of fun to wear.

Robin, that fabric is wonderful!  You are so clever to see beyond the coat to the professionally altered pattern.

ooooooh, Robin, my sister wanted me to buy that for her so I could make her a coat, but I was waiting hoping it would go on sale figuring who's going to buy such a heavy fabric when it's so hot outside? Silly me. The colors are wonderful. It's such a rich looking fabric. I can see it as a classic coat or a shorter swing type coat. How much did you get?  I hope you have a wonderful time sewing it because it's really Beeeuuutiful. I have a swatch and was petting it just this afternoon. I see it's sold out, though. Sigh. But I know it's gone to someone who will love and care for it.

Sarah will help you come up with all sorts of great ideas for that coat.

OK, she had a couple of yards left of that black mohair and I bought it. So now it really is out of stock.

When Linda wrote that she was getting ITY fabrics, I wrote and asked what the initials  represented. Here is her reply-"ITY, a soft and drapey knit, similar to a matte jersey-- better than "single span"

The "TY" part means "twist yarn" and has to do with the type of knit stitch uses.  It's just a very drapey jersey, smooth, light weight but opaque, very versatile, for any drapey tops or bottoms, trendy tees, twist tees.... doesn't curl, has a matte finish.... poly/spandex, has 4-way stretch but doesn't stretch out of shape, has great recovery, lighter than buttermilk, about the same weight as single span, but I like it a lot better than single span.  Tons of RTW use ITY, it's extremely popular.  ITY may be a trade name, not generally known by the public.

I got my sample of the jersey from EmmaOneSock that will replace single span. It's very nice and silky. If you liked the single span you will like this. I am waiting for her to get and post them.
