Wow, everybody! I guess I better go look before everything is sold out! I am very partial to a couple of the new Missoni knits she put up about a week or so ago.

Wow!  You guys have bought some beautiful pieces from EOS.  I too succumbed because I love the rayon/lycra knits that she has and bought this one:

I've bought several of these and they make amazing twinsets.

Carolyn, I've been looking at the print for a summer top. It's so pretty, but I'm really not a floral person so I'm on the fence.

Karla, I have been watching a lot of CSI Miami just for the sight of blue skies and ocean, it's been so yucky here in the Boston area. Whose idea was it to move back? Oh, yeah. Mine. slap You're fortunate. you don't need to sew winter coats.

Carolyn, I love rayon/lycra but I've never made a cardigan from it.  I'll need to try one as I'm on a cardigan making adventure right now.  I gather it works well for you.

LOL. And  I'm keeping an eye on the Times Square Earthcams this evening in hopes of catching a glimpse of snow falling.  I probably should have just driven to Atlanta today....  You probably don't want to know that I got outside early today to clean out my car before the temperatures plunged to 60 degrees when the cold front came through.  Roll Eyes

I have a couple of winter coats, because you just never know when someone will offer you an all-expense-paid trip to NYC, right?   yeah

Vtmartha - the border print one I pictured a few pages back is made from an EOS border print rayon/lycra...as was this one...also from EOS fabric:

more pics in my flickr album or in my twinset folder.

I love, love, love Linda's rayon/lycra knits for cardigans.  They sew launder well, cut and sew easily and wear very well!  You will not be disappointed if you purchase them!

I can't recall how to insert a picture or I would have done that for you.  Wink

Aaack, you and me both, Martha!  I know how to insert a pic from my own album at webshots, but as a Macintosh user--and the most computer-unready person on the planet--I have not been able, not even with pretty close study of the 'sandbox' here, to figure out what to do about actual online images.  With my machine's setup, I don't think I can 'right-click' on anything.  It makes my head swim.  I think I need a kir right about now.

I know you all know about EmmaOneSock's fabullous fabrics and service, but this fabric was exceptional.   I ordered the khaki/green lace and she sent me several great choices to use as an underliner.  I chose the aubergine linen.  This is Vogue 8295, which was way too full, but we live and learn.

Sorry for the inconvenience of posting to picasa, but I again spent over an hour trying to get Flickr to download without success.   My computer just doesn't like Flickr.

Lynda,  This is really beautiful, and I understand why you're excited about it.  How nice to have choices for the underlining sent along with the fabric.  Had you told her what you were planning to use the fabric for?

It doesn't look too full at all, but I know how it is when something isn't quite what you expect.  You'll just have to enjoy your 'twirly skirt'.  Grin  I don't think we ever get too old for those.  Wink

Your Picasa link worked just fine, but I thought I'd link it here for you.  All I did was just go to the photo in Picasa, right-clicked ON the photo itself, chose Properties, and copied the Location (photo URL).  Then I pasted it between the image tags you can get by clicking on the little 'landscape' above the smilies.  Smiley

Lynda

GORGEOUS!

I have never been disappointed with EOS' fabric or her service. Swatches, email feedback or answers - she does a great job. And I am only an irregular customer and NAYY.

Liana, you are wonderful for getting us out of jams!   Thank you.  I understand a Picasa photo may "disappear", but I appreciate your effort.

I am also only an occasional EmmaOneSock buyer, but that doesn't keep her from giving me top service.  My husband recently lost his job, so I am being even more selective.  Yes, I told her I wanted the lace as an overlay, and she sent me about eight selections: stapled with the lace on top so I could see all of the choices easily.  How intuitive.  The pattern envelope says it is 76" wide.   Next time I will make it about half that.

I LOVE your skirt. I think it's just fabulous.

I always get the best service from EOS. I don't always like her prints, which are often too large for me, but I've bought a lot of fabric from her in the past and have found some really beautiful fabrics when she does "bundles."

Unlike the service that I've been getting from Candlelight Valley. I can't even get Melanie to answer an e-mail. I know she's got parental care issues but if the site is going to remain up she should at least have someone respond to orders. I sent an order in 10 days ago, got an automated reply, but still no fabric despite several requests on shipping information. I'm going away next week and don't want a box to sit on my porch for three days. No one in this neighborhood would take it but the idea of cashmere sitting out there in the weather makes me edgy.

I have always loved the fabrics I get from Emma One Sock.

I LOVE that skirt.  Beautiful!

Carolyn, your twin set is very pretty.  I decided to do a slide show of your twin set folder.....Yikes!  It took a half hour to see them all!! Grin  All good too!!  Do you think you will ever have enough? Grin  You sure have gotten good use out of that Burda pattern.

Have not tried EOS yet.  Very tempting.

Carolyn, good question.   I thought a tight purple knit top would be too much purple, so I am thinking about an off-white fitted woven top with perhaps a rufflle around the collar stand to make it a little more dressy, or, if a knit, a small ruffle around the neckline or a small cowl.  I am 5'1", so I keep things small scale.  I am open to opinions.  That way the purple linen lining would be understated.  Agate necklace in browns, purples, olives, tans, and deep reds.

What do you pros suggest?

Someone brought up that EmmaOneSock often has large scale prints.  Yes, and I was afraid of them for awhile, then I noticed that RTW uses them brilliantly!   So I do, too, now.

I was ragging on CV so I'm updating to say I heard from Melody and my fabric's been shipped.

If you order from her, be patient (not like me) as she is still, I believe, dealing with elderly parent problems and isn't on top of things the way she used to be.

I'm looking at a beautiful b&w French houndstooth from EOS for a coat I want to make. I always love her fabrics but I know to swatch. She has been on vacation but she's due back next week with new fabrics to post.

I have a number of lovely EOS fabrics waiting to be sewn so I'm trying not to shop at the moment but it's definitely a challenge.  Wink

Lynda, your skirt is just lovely.  Have you tried draping a piece of the aubergine linen above the skirt?  I think it would be very pretty, especially if the blouse is fitted and simple.  I would even consider khaki collar and cuffs, but that may be too busy for your smaller stature.  BTW, I'm definitely not a 'pro'.  Wink

Seems like EOS keeps "SOLD OUT" fabrics up on her site.  If it is sold out, why keep it there?  I must have good taste because almost every time I spy something to splurge on, it is "SOLD OUT". I used to go to her site the minute I received her email??   Anyway, it aggravates me so I don't go there much anymore. Grin

Stash she gets really short yardage sometimes so even if you make a habit to check her website every couple of days, new fabrics to you are often sold out already. Swatching can work against you too. She sent me some raincoating swatches last fall and by the time I received them (only a couple of days) the one I really preferred was gone.

FTMartha, good ideas.  I was afraid the auberine linen would overpower the detail in the skirt, but maybe I am wrong.  I like the khaki trim idea.   The yoke and hem solid is actually a thin cotton velveteen drapery/upholstery fabric, so would not be appropriate for a top, but I do need ideas!  Keep them coming!

Stash, I have learned the hard way with EOS that if you want something, jump on it. She is Very popular and her fabrics sell out quickly. I have been disappointed more than once, just like you, but don't give up. I think there's a gremlin that peruses her website and sees the fabrics it knows I would love, and just buys them all up. Especially the bargains. That gremlin eats the bargains.

Sometimes, when I am supposed to be on the 'fabric wagon' I keep hoping that the one I am lusting for will get sold out and take me out of my misery!  I do keep looking though.

Regarding keeping the sold out fabrics on the site - if there is something that your really want, it is worth it to send Linda an e-mail.  Sometimes she is able to get more.

If I "jump right on it" and so much still SOLD OUT, I do not understand.  I am responding ASAP to emails she sends me?  Well, I used to anyway.  But, maybe I will start checking in again.  I could get lucky. Grin

As a rule, when she sells something out she takes it off the website when she updates with new fabrics. It doesn't always work this way as she gets busy just posting new stuff. I don't wait for the e-mails. I check her website daily, usually in the morning, to see if there's anything new.

However, I have asked her about sold out fabrics in the past. At times she's had a cut just big enough left over that I can use. Also, as Kristen pointed out, she can sometimes contact the vendor for more. She's done that for me on several occasions. If there's a fabric that you really like and it's sold out, if she can get more in she will.

Which is another reason to give her huge props for service.

Don't forget to check her "roll ends".  For example, Lynda's aubergine linen is listed as 'sold out' but there is a piece in the roll ends section.

Lynda - the skirt is beautiful!  And the service you received from Linda is what I would expect.  That is the one area where she surpasses quite a few of the online vendors!  Sometimes small is good!

Stash seriously you looked at all of them?!  Ummmm, some of those pics are 7 or 8 years old!  Some of those garments are no longer in my wardrobe which is why they've been replaced with newer, updated versions.

I have quite a few of Linda's pieces too!  They always make interesting and garments different from RTW!

FYI she is back from vacation and has some great new stuff up on the site.

Unfortunately, the houndstooth that I was eyeing for a coat is sold out. Ah, bien, there'll be something else. Somewhere.

Lisa, the fabric I have in mind is some of the wisteria eyelet that EOS had a couple of months back.  I broke my moratorium last night to order some wisteria Ambiance for it.  I tried linings of other colors, and even a print in similar hues, but the tone-on-tone looks best for this more muted color, to my eye, at least.

This is beautiful!  I've got to check out this site!

Just an idea here:   I saw some of that huge designer eyelet made up in a sundress.   The lining was - a contracting bold print!  How unique!

I have just received some EOS coral silk jersey, it is absolutely fabulous. The fabric is intermediate in texture between a single and double kinit so it will be a dream to sew. I live in the UK and the service is superb, I have waited longer for deliveries from a local source.
