I have two projects coming up, one is a rayon velvet dress and the other a silk/rayon velvet dress. Anyone have tips for sewing with these fabrics?

You may also want to check out Shannon Gifford's Guide to Sewing Velvet on EmmaOneSock's site.  Smiley

Denise I posted sources and links on Sewing for the Middle Ages topic.

And just to make this easier, here's the relevant part of Terri's post on that thread:

Linda Lee wrote an excellent article, "Velvet Indulgence" published in Threads issue #140 re sewing velvet.    She used this Vogue Ann Klein pattern #1025 to illustrate the techniques, and it was gorgeous with the soft tucks at the waist.    I bought that pattern after seeing it in the article.

Here's part of the Threads article excerpted on the Sewstylish website:  How to Sew Velvet like a Pro

Just wanted to add that velvet is not just for special occasion anymore.   Loes Hinse uses silk velvet for pants, tops, dresses, jackets.

Enjoy!

Found: a favorite silver bracelet that I hadn't seen for a while.  On its four quarters it says "Welcome Introspection; Accept Wisdom; Seek Illumination; Embrace Innocence."   It's like a "magic 8-ball" on the wrist...
