Hi Mary Ann, Mudcat gave you some excellent advice.

Follow these steps and you'll be posting your Flickr photos here in no time.

1.  Go to Flickr and click on the photo that you want to share here. That opens the photo in its own window

2. In the lower right hand corner, click on the little curvy arrow (the Share This Photo arrow).

3. In the box that opens, select "BB code" on the right side just above the little window that shows the code.

4. Select the photo size you want. "Small" or "Medium" work well here.

5. Highlight the code in the box (if it's not already highlighted), copy it, come back here, and paste that code into your post. (Note: You do not have to do anything else (like clicking on the little picture icon). Just paste the code that you copied from Flickr)

6. When you select "Post" or "Preview" you will be able to see your photo in the post.

HTH,
Kathryn

Oh my gosh, it worked! I was missing the valuable part about pushing "preview" or "post"
thank you, Kathryn and Mudcat.

Mfedna, your attached photos are fine. When I click on them I can see the original size, a feature that DragonLady enabled yesterday.

You don't need the Shutterfly info in the text of your post if you choose to use Attachments instead. You only need photohosting site info if you want the photo to show up in the body of your post instead of an Attachment, which eventually gets deleted.

And you can rotate that one photo in your iPhone (if that's where it came from) or on your computer and attach it in the correct orientation.

Once you are comfortable attaching photos, the sky's the limit. :)

Another approach to posting your pictures:

Hi Mfedna!

I'm not sure how long an image from Shutterfly will stay, when it's been hotlinked, but I thought I'd try:

If you display images this way, you'll be able to show it where ever you like in your post, so that you can have text both before and after the image (however you want it!).   Here's what I did:

1.  Went to the page for the image, using the link in your last post.  I did that in a separate tab or window in my browser.

2.  Then I put my cursor on the image and "right-clicked."  That got me a drop down menu, from which I chose "copy image address" (That's the Chrome version of this entry, but other browsers will have a similar item.  "Copy image url"   Use the version from your browser--let us know which browser you're using if you have trouble identifying what your browser calls it.).

3.  Once you've copied the image's url (step #2), then come back here to your open editing window and put your cursor where you want the picture in your post.

4. Click the "insert image" button above the editing window (1st button in the second row--looks like a landscape picture), which will put url tags in your post--your cursor will be between them.

5.  Leave the cursor between the opening and closing url tags, and paste the code you copied in step #2.

6.  Preview your post to make sure it's the way you want it, then click the "Post" button.

Give it a try! :smiles-pom2: :smiles-pom2: :smiles-pom2:

Thank you fzxdoc and Lisa - you can probably tell by now that I do not have these kinds of thinking skills....I will need to use another computer (vs iPad) and print out the directions you provide because my Brain acts like it's "under arrest" and unable to manage. Stay tuned. I shall try once more when I have a computer print out. (Is there a class I can take in this kind of thing? Seriously, what is this kind of learning called for those of us who do not have a programming mind?)

Mfedna,

I'm absolutely convinced that you can do this!  People who can sew (like you) can also post pictures.  It's just a different kind of assembly.  You can assemble fabric and thread into clothing following a pattern--you have the kind of brain (and thinking skills) that will be able to post pictures too!  You're just assembling code, following a pattern (our instructions) which will allow you to create the code structure you need to allow Stitcher's Guild to display your pictures.

You can do this! :smiles-pom2: :smiles-pom2: :smiles-pom2:  Please give it another try!

If you have any trouble, just be sure to leave what didn't work here, so that we can diagnose what went wrong.

Looking forward to seeing more of your pictures soon! ;) ;D

Saashka, I can do it easily from my desktop, but the iPad doesn’t allow you to copy anything but the URL. I sure wish it did! I don’t keep the desktop turned on all the time.

Thanks! Kathy

TRy #1: I took this image from my iPad library...using the attachment as you see.

Then, try #2:

I used the directions you generously and painstakingly provided in my next attempt...with a shutterfly  photo, a completely different one. BUt, I don't know "how to right click" with the iPad.  I tried copying that one also, but it did not carry over to "paste".

Thank you for the confidence boost.

I guess I am limited to only sending photos on my iPad...that I take with my iPad, and which can be sent as attachments right now. I will keep trying. I think the iPad isn't really helpful always. This has been good. Next I try with the computer using your directions.

Thank you so much.  This is a photo of a muslin that remains a muslin.

Kathy, did you watch the video? Because it shows how to do this on an iPad and it works on mine every single time.

Saashka, no I didn't. I assumed it wouldn't work on an ipad. But I will now!

On another subject, I'm on my desktop and was going to upload a photo to the Sewing Workshop thread in Patterns but the bars at the top and bottom do not have a "reply" button or a "start new topic" button. Sandbox has all the buttons to post. What gives with that thread?

My ipad doesn't display an option to copy the BB code like in the video. I have an ipad air.

Ah! Thanks! I wouldn't have known to go to that forum without being told! I'm anxious to subscribe but when I go to my Profile and click the "Actions" button, nothing happens. According to DragonLady's footer, that's what you do to subscribe, right? Any thoughts, anyone?

Never mind! I figured out to click the left-facing arrow button on the right side of my profile info and it opened up a list including Actions, Paid Subscriptions. I'm hoping the funding will allow DL to move to a better hosting site and improve the maneuverability within SG. It's pretty confusing sometimes!

All paid up!

I paid the 2018 dues.  I logged in, using my member name and my password.  The site didn't recognize my member name with password, so I used my associated email address and password, and that worked.  However the signin box calls for member name and not email address.

I should be able to do this but need to test

I want a tidy link where you click on the word, not the whole URL.

so I want   <a href="https://flowerdogdesigns.co.uk/product/mini-mandala-coaster/">Free Mandala Coaster design</a>to link to https://flowerdogdesigns.co.uk/product/mini-mandala-coaster/

Trying again, I found a post by Kathryn that explains it:

Free mandala applique coaster

Note to self for future ref, don't include spaces in the [url] tag and add "marks"
