Grown Up Toys
« on: December 22, 2010, 03:37:56 PM »

This is the kind of sewing I do most of....toys for grownups! The dragons have a leather like body, filled with poly beads, so they drape on shoulder or shelf. The claws and wings are flexible, and best of all, the eyes glow in the dark.

They really are fun to make, and cool to look at, especially after the lights go off.

Lynerwi - that is a beautiful toy.  But I'd call it a work of art.

My daughter would love something like that!  Yes, I'd call it a work of art!!

LynnH, Marciae--thanks for the kind words. It's hard to think of them as art when they're just so fun!

fiberart7, that's nice of you to say. Dollmaking is one of things I would LOVE to learn...just not sure where to begin without a class or two.

Thank you :-) I'll have to see if I can get a picture of them (yes, there are more than one) with their eyes glowing...now that's really cool!

More than two years to take from concept to completion...who knew a denim dragon would be such a challenge. Hope this is what Mom had in mind :-)

Your dragons are so neat. I am new to sewing. Thank you for sharing it took you two years to come up with this design. I don't feel so stressed out by the pretty funny mess ups I have had making some of my designs for grown up stuffed toys too. I just signed up here today but will post pictures on here as I get finalized products. I have only been at this for about 4 months. I have an idea in my head and I am learning as I go.

Your post is encouragement for me to not get too frustrated during the process. Thank you.
